@JustGraduate - we successfully used the standard Target-quality mats for Target-quality cardboard puzzles up to 3,000 pieces. They roll up pretty well with puzzles in very early stages to anywhere close to completeness stages. I think you can make your own if you need a bigger size. There are youtube video instructions out there, apparently!
@conmama, I almost bought the puzzle in your avatar but bought one with all gourds and one with knitting yarns instead, as I’m not crazy about scenery ones,
I’m waiting on one for a friend to finish that’s all wine bottles (don’t know the maker.) it looks really hard.
@surfcity We do the same puzzle over and over again, too. I’m surprised that many people complete once and pass it on to somebody else. But that’s good! My family always go to Goodwill for jigsaw puzzles.
@emilybee …I read reviews that people liked the springbox because there no cardboard dust. Mine was 1/3 cheaper online. Next year I’m doing that at Xmas. I’m saving it. I did go to Goodwill today…no puzzles?
I love doing puzzles but haven’t done one about 3-4 years- no time since returning to school and working full time. I have done both- glued and framed and not glued in order to redo or give to local school, senior center, etc. I changed my icon to show the star wars puzzle I completed about 15 years ago (?). The coloring in the picture doesn’t do it justice. It’s very blue with a stonewashed blue frame.
I liked the wood puzzles and ordered the dragon mountain and the steam punk griffon, can’t wait to get started…
We Don’t glue. I’ve talked about trading with someone, but don’t do that either. If someone is looking for a creative way to donate puzzles, I can tell you that when we had someone in a hospital, in intensive care for days, we loved doing the puzzles in the family area.
This is the puzzle I started right before Thanksgiving and the reason we had to eat at the island. My little dog ate two of the pieces (must have knocked them to the floor) which I was able to salvage and I found two more a few weeks after I finished it under my family room rug. Have no idea how they got there.
This thread made me get out a puzzle tonight. It’s a cheap one though - seems a couple of edge pieces fit in multiple places. Tomorrow I will work at figuring out where they really belong.
My daughter was really into puzzles when she was younger. We glued and framed the most beautiful ones. They are in her room and in one hallway. We love looking at them.
