<p>I organized most of the visits if they were during the school year. D didn’t get home in time to call admissions offices but she took care of the summer visits. Both S and D took care of all deadlines and applications except for FAFSA and profile. H took care of that. I nagged and scouted colleges, when I saw one that looked possible brought it to their attention. That’s how S ended up at Grinnell. I heard about if from someone and told S. Decided it was worth a day long road trip and that was it. I think we proofed an essay or two but generally they took care of it themselves. They also made the final choices based on their options, admission aid etc. S is at Grinnell with merit aid , no debt. D could have done the same thing but chose Kenyon with need based aid and some loans. Growing up is about figuring out what your goals are and how to get there. Right now I’m busily nagging D to finish getting her acceptance paperwork in the mail to Kenyon. It would have been so much easier to just fill it out and mail it but…</p>
