Pre-pandemic, I always wiped any containers from the grocery before storing in my refrigerator or open shelf walk-in pantry. And I always washed fruits and vegetables before putting them away. And I wiped my counter-tops several times daily after using them. Working in the kitchen, I wash my hands regularly, especially if I’m handing meat or eggs, as my home economics/nutrition major mother and MD father taught me 60 years ago.
Right after 9/11, our area was impacted by the anthrax scare. Some of my checks sent to pay bills were quarantined and disappeared. Since then I’ve always washed my hands after handling mail.
So my habits really didn’t change. I probably don’t mop my floor as often as most of you. I’m not too worried about my shoes, but have outside and inside shoes. And I’ve always wiped door handles and changed hand towels regularly because of cold germs. Maybe it helps; maybe not. Just habit at this point.
