Alh, you are a comedian, lol…seriously, have you happen to stop by a OWS site…there is NO common cause within, most have varying opinions of why they are there, and some for reasons we won’t discuss. ;)

As someone who helps many people in need, i also see the scamming of the system, but you would never admit that at happens, and fault people like myself who give some thought to scams and schemes, as we are not truly charitable, what a laugh…

Now let me get back to my single malt scotch, and read my Forbes magazine on my Ipad, with my trusty genetically engineered dog at my feet…;)

But sweetie - wouldn’t your time be better spent drafting some new sumptuary laws? Because isn’t that what is really needed to get things back on track?

busdriver11… What do you think the taxes should be?
Do you think everybody should pay less than the government’s share of GDP?
It’s 40%. In good times… with the age of our population…maybe we can bring it back down to 35%.

I posted the government’s share of GDP for the last 100 hundred years.
This argument that we are drastically going to cut the government’s
share of GDP in the future…well is that realistic?

Everybody has their own reality…but I try hard not to live in a fantasy
world.

If you don’t think people should pay the government’s share of GDP, which entities should? Or should nobody? We can run deficits forever. We
can run deficits of 3% of GDP or less…That is probably doable…but then we still need tax increases…

I read these arguments about SS and Medicare…and if people live long enough…well…about 90% of people who are going to receive SS are going to need it.

Medicare…if things don’t change…and they have to change…well…I don’t know…I don’t know the exact numbers…sorry… ;).but around 97 to
99% of people who are going to receive Medicare are going to
desperately need it if they live long enough…unless they get their health care elsewhere.

So…the attacks on these entitlements…and the fact that people who
support these attacks are going to need these programs…blows my mind. Of course brain research says these attacks would blow my mind, as I don’t really have free will. ;)

This board does skew wealthier than society…so I do understand some of the attacks on these programs. Some people don’t need these programs.

“The New Deal helped a lot of people eat and survive. It also arguably prolonged the ordeal of the depression for the country.”

Facts please - How did new deal impact on the rest of the world?? Where was the depression worse here with the new deal or elsewhere? What happen half way through, when austerity measures went into play? Did things get better or worse?

LongPrime…mine is not going to be installed for a few more days…it’s a toto. I didn’t get the top of the line combination…I bought the second…I am trying to be practical. I did not buy the 6,000 model. I bought the washlet.

aih, soooo, bless your heart, do the kids just use the out-house?! (could not resist, sorry, meant in total jest, an attempt to maintain the light tone of the last few posts…)

No bidets or biddies here, no plans for any in future- should I be worried?

But because we have always lived in antique houses I have at times suggested to them the feasibility of chamber pots.

We are renovating a country property. Eventually they will have a guest house. They may even get plumbing They want a hot tub. I said no. I am a mean mom.

I have yet to read anyone espousing such a simplistic of a solution. Most people think such tax reform is part of the solution. Of course, it’s good political rhetoric to reduce the statements of those who look to increasing the tax on the wealthy as part of a comprehensive political reform, that includes reducing spending, as just wanting to “tax the rich” and wanting “class warfare.”
