Do you wash your pillows?

Did not read the article as I will do as I wish anyhow. I used to clean house every two weeks with kid and nonshed dog around. eased into every three to four weeks- when things look dusty or I notice too much. Hair- depends on the person and occasion, every 3 days works for me or I feel too grungy, but if I want to look nice for something then the second day. Bras- when they are only worn outside the house (I was surprised to fin not only my sister but a neighbor went braless when home) it depends on how much they are worn- and they get thrown in when I do a load. Sheets every 2 or 3 weeks. Pillows every 2 or more years. “Just buy new ones” implies the job of finding the proper ones at a good price, plus the time is easy.

TV ad about how heavy your mattress is with mites et al in 8 years- well, no not if you always use a mattress pad, and wash it when you do the sheets. Those floor cleaner ads- so what if you literally sterilize your floor- 5 minutes after the dog is in the room it is dirty again.

So many “rules” are meant to be broken. Then there’s the 5/20 second food on the floor rule which is bad. I would NEVER pick stuff up off a public floor but do at home (and we remove shoes upon entering the house- so did son’s friends- you could tell who/how many present by the pile of shoes at the door- and which door was used, garage with son, front for later arrivals). Physician here- be practical. Keep the normal floral to keep the bad germs at bay. Feel good, smell good- your comfort level.

I do admit when I have cleaned house I wish I had done it sooner because it makes me feel good to be clean again. Then I think about the time spent and decide, nah, every x weeks is good enough.

Lol, wis! I vacuum weekly, but I have an easy peasy to handle super vac. Dust mop kitchen floor couple times a week. We live in a low dust area and have an air purifier built into our furnace, so I do not need to dust the house weekly. The only thing that gets daily attention is the kitties’ box. :slight_smile:

Forget washing my pillows, I just found out how to fold a fitted sheet into a perfect rectangle!

<a href=“How to Fold a Fitted Sheet - The Only Video You Need! Taught by a Man! - YouTube”>How to Fold a Fitted Sheet - The Only Video You Need! Taught by a Man! - YouTube;

Except I probably won’t be able to do it, I’ll just know HOW to do it.

I now have a new agenda regarding my pillows. With nighttime hot flashes, it became such a hassle to flip over the king-sized pillow that I’ve always used without risking hitting H in the head, that I went out and bought two very small pillows at BB&B. I think they’re made for people who want to sew their own decorative pillow covers (think toddler-sized pillows). I keep two at the head of my bed. When I wake up with a hot flash and the pillow is hot, it’s a snap to flip the small pillow over. If I do that, and my head is still warm, and the pillow warms up fast, I grab the second pillow and put it under my head. Usually at that point, I’m starting to cool down. These small pillows wash really well and go in the dryer, but the point is, I am able to flip the pillow over quickly enough and/or switch out to the second pillow, that sweat rarely has time to form. It’s also a great size for traveling in the car and putting behind my head when I’m the passenger.

You are so considerate of your DH. When I get a hot flash, I go ahead and flip the big pillow. 9 times out of 10 it’s no disaster if I plop DH with it, because it usually gives me a short amount of relief from the snoring. Kills 2 birds with one stone. ;)

LOL!
Good one… hadn’t thought of that.

Really? you only wear a bra about 10 days a year?

^^^^D2 has a bra fetish I think. She has at least 30 in every color, pattern, etc***. So she would probably only wear each one about 10 times or so if you consider the days she sepends in t shirt and sports bra.

***She has worked for Victoria’s Secret for a couple of years, so she gets lots of free or discounted bras. She even has them lined up in her drawers just like they do at the store, in prescribed order by color.
