I’m sorry to hear things are not going the way you hoped.
Are you in therapy at your college? If you aren’t yet, PLEASE GO. At almost every college I have ever heard of, it is FREE and CONFIDENTIAL. Your parents don’t have to know.
Feeling like a shell of a person is a terrible way to go through life. It could be the case that transferring would help or that finding different friends who share more of your priorities and work ethic would help, but it sounds like there may be more going on as well. “I’ve lost my grip on who I am” is a worrisome statement.
PLEASE PRIORITIZE YOURSELF. If that means taking time off from college, so be it. Wanting happiness --or at least mental well-being–is reasonable. Do not even worry for one little second about what your family thinks about therapy. If they don’t get it, they don’t. YOU DO WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO BE HEALTHY.
