Does any of your kids double major in computer/engineering and music?

I know a young man who did this, very successfully, at University of Miami. He has a music engineering patent and his own firm now (at age 27).

^^^my nephew is currently a soph at UMiami studying Music & Comp Sci

My S found a program at University of Hartford that is absolutely PERFECT for him:

[University of Hartford Acoustical Engineering and Music](http://www.hartford.edu/academics/AreasofStudy/UndergraduatePrograms-listingpage/Acoustical_Engineering_Music.aspx)

It’s an ABET-accredited MechE program offerred in conjunction with the Hartt School. I believe that it’s the only undergrad program of its kind (but I could be mistaken)

Good info here…but this thread is TWO years old. Perhaps better to start a new thread or add to a more recent one?

The OP to this thread more than likely has their answer.

The program at CMU was the first that came to mind.

But what is his goal? To work as a musician that uses technology in his art? Or to get a CS degree while also improving music skills with the goal of working in a regular CS job while keeping music as a sideline (like perhaps playing in a band on weekends)? Something else?

(thumper, whooops, I didn’t notice that!!)

Closing old thread.
