I still don’t get an interview. Actually, I already requested. Is this a bad sign??

I don’t know about Beijing specifically, but sometimes Brown doesn’t have enought alumni or staffers abroad to do interviews. That will not count against you. They will note that it just was not available to you.

Thanks for your advice. But, if they really can’t conduct the interviews, shouldn’t they send email to let applicants know??

CSCCC, I suggest you read this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/brown-university/810532-brown-interview-faq-answers.html. You can also go on the Brown website to get answers to your questions. No one who applies “requests an interview.” And no, there is no way to send an email to applicants who don’t get interviews.

The point is that my classmate got an interview. It really makes me panic. Now, I feel that the chance I got accepted is really small.

That is an incorrect conclusion. Interviews are based on the availabilty of people to interview you. You may get a call soon, so don’t ‘borrow trouble.’ On the other hand, no one may be available and that shouldn’t count when they review your application. They still review your entire application by at least 2 people. I can see that it will make you feel better to get an interview, but you are putting too much meaning intothe situation. Just sit tight and be calm. good luck with your application.

In fact, although I submitted my application on Oct 9th, my application was not complete. When I sent my material, I didn’t have any test score. I took Oct ACT which was my first. On Nov 17th, Brown told me that they got my score. It is true that Brown will not read my application until my application material is complete.

Also make sure that in your profile your contact information is correct. Sometimes students list their contact e-mail as one that has a spam blocker that prevents e-mail from unknown sources (your interview contact person’s e-mail address!) or from e-mail that is copied to more than one person (an interviewer may send the same request for interview set up to 2-3 students at once). Both of these scenarios might prevent your interviewer from getting hold of you!

Is it true that there is no one on admission office during weekend? I was wondering why admission office doesn’t reply my email. I sent on Friday evening.

It’s the weekend. That’s right, people in admission get the weekend off. You should never send an email on Friday night and expect a response earlier than Monday.

Plus, this is Thanksgiving week, AND admission officers are reading ED apps. I would not expect quick turnaround for an email response.

If you’re looking for reassurance, look at past years’ results threads–you’re bound to find many people who weren’t interviewed who got in.

Thank you all. In fact, I got my interview this morning. I feel so delighted and excited. Looking forward to speaking to interviewer.

Glad to hear you got one. Just remember this is for your benefit to find out about Brown and isn’t likely to influence your outcome. You can discuss your interests and ask the interviewer about their own experience at Brown, but you don’t need to bother talking about when you took tests and that sort of thing. The alumni interviewer will not have access to your application file. Some kids take a short resume, but it is not needed at all.

Are there many people who got interview still got rejected?? I am just curious…

Again, as has been explained here countless times, and in the thread that fireandrain linked to, which you should really read, there is no meaning to ‘getting’ an interview. All applicants who can be interviewed are interviewed. It means nothing about your admissions chances. Many, many applicants who are interviewed are ultimately rejected.
