Does anyone use a neti pot??

The neti spout fits right up against your nostril, which makes it much easier. Also, the water in the pot must provide a small amount of pressure to get the flow started.

What people don’t realize is that the sinuses go way up in the head. There are actually three sets: [ANATOMY OF THE SINUSES * OTOLARYNGOLOGY HOUSTON](รวมโปรสล็อต ทุกค่าย เล่นง่ายได้เงินจริง เว็บยอดนิยมอันดับ1)

If you just sniff up nasal spray, it doesn’t get in the frontal sinuses, and those swollen sinuses are often the cause of the headaches. I think that’s why the neti pot/nasal spray hanging off the side ofthe bed thing works so well – because gravity is sending the meds into those upper sinuses.

I think a catchy slogan would bolster the status of the neti pot. :)

I’ve watched several youtube clips. It looks so… weird.

I don’t even want to watch the videos. I probably will never get up the nerve to try it.

It’s like sausage and laws – better to not see them being made. It is nasty looking; I’m grossed out watching dh and ds1 doing it, but I like the way I feel after I do it.

The person who convinced me to try it said this: When you feel bad enough, you will try it. And then you will thank me.

She was right.

I was just about to write the same thing. When you’re desperate for relief you’ll try anything. And then you will be grateful you did. It took me months to get my husband to try it; now he is also a convert.

Where’d you buy yours? How much do they cost? Looks like they are about $12. Do you have the blue plastic or the white ceramic?

I have a stainless steel one.

I have a Neil neti pot sitting here for almost a year and I haven’t drummed up the courage to try it. Perhaps my allergy isn’t bad enough.

where do you live cbreeze? Maybe I’ll take it of your hands!

Ha ha, you taking a vacation to the Bay Area anytime soon?

My h will be back out there in the not too distant future! I’ll see if he has room in his carry-on!

The videos on how to use it made me gag a bit… but I caved and purchased the sinus rinse irrigation bottle/salt packet kit this past winter when a nasty URI went through the house a couple times. It’s very soothing… and works like a charm to make breathing more free and easy.

The irrigation bottle offers a litte better flushing force…rather than relying on the gravity of the Neti Pot - but you can make the flow of solution as gentle or as strong as you choose, by changing the intensity of your grip/squeeze. If you are worried about making a mess at the bathroom sink with solution all over the counter … just use it in the shower.

I like the ceramic one, but also have the blue plastic for travel. I usually put a hand towel on the edge of the counter to catch any drips.

OK… I have the worst gag reflex in the world and I had not an inch of problem using this so don’t let anyone scare you.

You can pick them up at Walgreens or any health food store (which you should know where they are now that you had to buy peppermint oil for your little critters!).

LOL, your memory is too good, teriwtt!!

BTW, havent seen to many critters in a while! Still see holes/tunnels but no critters

Fear not, if I can use a neti-pot, so can anyone. I also have the worst gag reflex and hate it when water goes up my nose when I’m swimming. If you do it right, this doesn’t really feel like that. To be successful, make sure the water is a comfortable temperature, start with very little, if any, salt until you are used to it and learn to tilt your head the right way. It can actually feel very soothing, especially if you are badly stuffed up. It’s one of those things where you aren’t quite sure you are doing it right and then you do it right and you just know!

I was sick a lot for years and finally went to an Ear Nose and Throat specialist. He told me I had terrible allergies and had for years and that I was horribly swollen, etc. He’d like to get in there and do some kind of procedure, but I’m not as enthusiastic. He advised me (along with other things) to use Ocean Spray frequently throughout the day (saline solution) and to Neti-Pot. He confirmed that it really, really does work, it’s not just a myth. It’s especially good for those people who have inflammation because (gross, but this is how he explained it) when you are swollen, bacteria gets trapped more easily and thrives and so you get sick over and over and have trouble getting over illnesses. Using a Neti-Pot flushes things out and the salt cleans things out – similarly to gargling with salt water can help with a sore throat.

This is why I love the Parents Cafe. We can talk about anything!

I have heard that you really should use at least 1/2 packet, if not the whole packet, everytime. It affects something… that’s important…

I don’t know what it is.

I’ve told people that when you are willing to jab your face with a sharp object to relieve the pain in your sinuses, you are definitely ready for a neti pot.

We each have our own. They are beige plastic. I wash my spout after each use.

I like the neti pot. But as others have said, you need to use 1/2 of the salt packet- not the whole thing -or it will burn and leave a very strange smell in your nose.
