Does anyone use a neti pot??

I was just joking, anxiousmom. I never did buy a neti. I used an eyedropper-type thing at my DHs suggestion. Seemed to work ok. The water never came out on its own (though in truth there wasnt that much going in). I blew my nose and let gravity help.

Maybe the water is leaking out the hole in the back of your head where we mom’s used to have that third eye to keep an eye on our kids? :D

Sometimes you just have to move your head around to get the right angle. Also, make sure the spout isn’t pressed against your nostril so that it’s really pouring out. Or, you could be so swollen that the water just can’t get through. Have you tried both sides?

You could be so congested that the water won’t flow through. Try blowing your nose first. Also, make sure you tuck your chin in while you tilt your head.

If the water doesn’t come out at all after going in, I’m thinking you’ve got polyps in the sinuses.

I’ve been doing the string-through-the-nose thing for three days. No appreciable benefit yet. More updates to come. It feels WEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIRD the first time!!! I couldn’t stop sneezing.

manitori, you are braver than I.

Water was definitely going in!! I could feel it above my eyes in the upper sinuses, and it hurt. Both sides were blocked because, like a fool, I tried it the other side and used the whole pot of water. I’ve had a sinus headache ever since… I actually stopped at the store and bought some decongestants (something which I haven’t used for years!), to try and help my headache… Maybe off to see the doctor soon!

Yikes, anxiousmom, that can’t be good! Where is all that water if it didn’t flow out? I’m a big fan of the neti pot but I would not fool around with sinuses. I think you should go to the doctor right away. Some of your sinuses are very close to your brain.
