I was wondering, since my friend told me that Cornell has this website which connects their students to interested employers so it makes job searching easier for them, and they constantly bring companies to their campus so students get to network with potential employers.

So I guess my question is mostly does Berkeley provide similar types of student services to make job hunting etc. easier? Or is it left up to the student?

Also, how flexible is Berkeley in terms of switching major/taking extra classes outside of your major? (: Thanks!

Career center and Caljobs/Callisto are excellent resources.

Caljobs is especially good. Just monitor it everyday and look for good opportunities and drop your resume.

I got a great internship through caljobs just by seeing the internship posting, dropping my resume and going to the interview. This internship eventually led to my current full time position. So I say…definitely yes Berkeley helps out students in getting recruited/employed. You just have to take the initiative and look for the opportunities. No one’s going to send you personal e-mails everyday or be your secretary.

Your major adviser is also really helpful. In addition, you can sign-up for mailing lists which post several useful things such as seminars and employees looking for undergrads.
