Does Cornell care about regents exams?

I mean its the Regents; I’m sure all of us thought we would get a 100 because they give you so much time and the material isn’t super hard (usually). However, that 100 never comes

The Regents exams I really feel like I messed up on are chemistry (94: a few dumb mistakes like not looking at the reference table closely) math b (93: extremely stupid mistakes like confusing quadrant numbers; a fifth grader would know better), and biology (91: lol I’m just not good at biology, some people in my school got 100s). who knows maybe i messed up my last three regents

the regents are really annoying and the curve on most tests is basically nonexistent but you guys know that you can take it multiple times right? only the highest score goes on your transcript so if you’re unhappy with an exam you can take it over as many times as you want…though most people don’t want to since they’re a huge pain in the butt

lol waste of 3 hours of my day; barely even counts for anything. The only reason I care about them is to get above a 90 to help my final grade. If I get like 70s-80s colleges might question my integrity or the school’s grading.

i mean i think the only colleges that might even care about your regents are those in new york, like nyu or stony brook. i dont even think columbia or cornell care at all.

true, they are all fairly long but if you got below mastery it’s probably worthwhile to retake it.

I don’t think that Columbia will care but some of Cornell’s colleges are tied into the SUNY system so they might look at your regents grades

@equilibrium,
seriously, you get scholarships for those exams? no way! which website gives you info about this? i never heard of this in my life.

Spanish “Proficiency”: 98
Math A: 98
Biology: 91 (I know, I suck at bio)
Chemistry: 94
Math B: 93 (dumbest mistakes in the world!)
Global History: 99
Spanish: 100
US History: 98
Physics: waiting
English: waiting

I have been 10-30 minutes late for the last three exams; i couldn’t check them over. lol for US history, my essay was so messy and I thought you could only use two pages instead of four, so i used a lot of caret marks and wrote really small. I also did not incorporate any outside information for the DBQ. I have no idea how i got a 98 lol.

As long as we’re comparing

Physics 98
Bio 97
Global 96
English 96
Math B 95
Math A 95
US History 95
Earth Science 90
Latin 89
Chem 88

I did not like earth science, and no idea what happened on chem, latin, and US…

[NYS Scholarships for Academic Excellence](http://www.hesc.com/content.nsf/SFC/2/NYS_Scholarships_for_Academic_Excellence)

^ based directly off NY Regents Exam Scores. Your regents exams are all averaged with english and Math B counting 3x as much as a normal exam.

sadly, NYS is trying to rob me off my scholarship bc NY first is in major financial trouble, and second, NY hasn’t approved the state budget yet -___-

^ thanks
HESC doesn’t give scholarships to students moving away from NY for undergrad…

so only if your like the best in your school you get like $1500 a year for five years, or if you are just outstanding, $500, which still isn’t bad

@ idkididk … no I took the regents exam in Modern Greek. I believe they have them for other languages such as Polish, but you don’t hear about them. Only kids who go to greek schools (like my middle school which is a greek school- greek was just like any other class… or afternoon greek classes) take them. Too bad for me, my greek is terrible lol

hey - did you find out if we are definitely not getting the academic excellence scholarship? My guidance counselor said NYS is not awarding them this year.

NYS is getting rid of the regents in a couple of years. at least that’s what I’ve been hearing.

^ Rlly? lol and they made us waste 3 hours life everyday taking those stupid exams.

yea NY is one of the only states that has statewide exams. though the regents are really annoying, I still think that they’re better than having a final. the regents are still typically easier than any exam your teacher would give out

Regents exams are more usefull for teachers than for students. They focus the curricilum, create a goal, and foster accountability.

Math A: 98
Biology: 91 (I suck at bio)
Math B: 93 (dumb mistakes)
Chemistry: 94
Global History: 99
Spanish: 100
English: 92 (my school’s teachers can range from easy to really harsh, so idk)
Physics: 96 (once again, dumb mistakes)
US History: 98

8th grade-
Integrated Algebra - 92 (up until 2 am nervous as heck; could not focus; had a 99 or 100 average throughout the year; very disappointed)
US History and Government - 99 (multiple choice were easy with a few hard; the Bogota one threw me for a loop; essays were shockingly easy)
Italian Proficiency - 97 (multiple choice were sick; I suspect a few writing mistakes; speaking went great)

Anyway, here’s my schedule for the rest of my HS career -
9th grade - Geometry, Bio
10th grade - Algebra II/Trig, Chemistry, Global History and Geography
11th grade - English (January), Physics, Russian
12th grade - NONE!

My goal is 100 on all!!! =)

This is scary for me. I have high 80s and low 90s on most of them and a 65 on math last year (I thought it was impossible). I’m not going to be a math/science major. Do you think the 65 will kill any hopes for Cornell?
