I can only imagine the royal family is losing their minds.
Who knows. But Harry and Meghan are continuing to lose their staff…
What is their purpose for being there?
Clicks
First they were invited by the vice president, Francia Márque.
As for their purpose it seems to be in alignment with Harry and Meghan’s “post-working Royals” aspirations…to bring further awareness to the Invictus Games and athletes and to help promote mental health and awareness of the negative impact of social media on young minds. Hence the school visit article I linked to a few posts ago. And here’s an article on the Invictus Games team visit.
Why is excessive use of social media a problem?
The excessive use of social media can harm teens by disrupting important healthy behaviors. Some researchers think that exposure to social media can overstimulate the brain’s reward center and, when the stimulation becomes excessive, can trigger pathways comparable to addiction.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have highlighted the effects of harmful online content through their non-profit organization, the Archewell Foundation. They recently appeared on CBS Sunday Morning to discuss a new initiative called The Parents Network, which supports parents whose children have been impacted by traumas related to social media use.
I don’t know why they have to highlight the issue in Colombia specifically, but this weekend I’m walking my dog, cooking, and posting random stuff on social media so clearly they’re doing a heck of a lot more on the topic than I am.
Here’s an article about their visit to a public school
And here’s a tangential article I saw on screen time and young children.
I guess that’s a natural follow-on from the Worldwide Privacy Tour, since their “state visits” are a magnet for negative commentary.
When’s the next South Park episode?
Between Archewell and their personal staff, it’s a LOT of turnover. And they seem to have a particular difficulty with retaining qualified folks in senior/strategic/advisory roles.
One can still give M & H the benefit of the doubt on a personal level and assume that they’re both fine and well-intentioned people.
But something is amiss in their “professional” world, that much is clear. The staff departures, the failed promise of media content, the tone-deaf product launch…. It all feels a bit radioactive ATM.
A wise PR maven would probably suggest that they lay low for a while. Or maybe Meghan should go on Dancing with the Stars! They need to shake things up IMO.
Long article in this week’s UK Sunday Times (gift link):
Prince Harry at 40: ‘All he does is spend time looking back’
Key points
Old friends of Harry say they cannot imagine he is enjoying his “gilded exile” in California
Friends say William does not want Harry to come to his coronation, whenever that might be. The brothers are not thought to have spoken in nearly two years: “They are estranged, which is dreadfully sad”
The King is “frustrated” that Harry is continuing to fight the government over his security in the UK. Charles worries Harry wants to lobby him on the issue, but he will not intervene
Harry and Meghan did not attend a family briefing on the Queen’s funeral the night before the service and were not sent the briefing notes until late that night, events that are said to have wounded Harry
Harry has a new “father figure” in a neighbour, the Canadian music mogul David Foster, who at 74 is a year younger than King Charles
Former aides ask: “What is the purpose of Prince Harry and what is Prince Harry’s purpose? He must be wondering, ‘Where do I go from here?’”

Seems a little weird when this guy is 74 and his wife is 40 and “a school friend of Meghan’s”. I suppose that age gap is more common amongst rich celebs in the US, but not so much in the U.K. It must be difficult if he’s no longer in touch with many friends his own age, or perhaps (hopefully!) the people who really are his friends just aren’t talking.
Oh, that sent tongues wagging on this side of the pond, between the age difference, his 4 previous marriages, and that 4 of his then-5 kids were older than Katherine.
I don’t see Harry and David popping out for a pint.
Yeah - I don’t think I’d want Foster as my husband’s “father figure”
The article mentions that Foster’s wife, Katherine McPhee, was a school friend of Meghan. And McPhee “said Harry and her husband are ‘like father and son’.” Doesn’t mean 'tis true. Or maybe McPhee is just referring to their age difference.
Harry and David may just hang out when the “girls” get together. Then again what do I know.
Let’s hope it’s not true. Harry doesn’t need more negative influences in his life.
Would she use the same reference about her and her husband’s age difference, given she’s the same age as Harry? Ick…
Incidentally she’s three years younger than Meghan, which makes me wonder how accurate the whole “school friends” description is.
Foster appears to be just as opportunistic and hungry to be celeb-adjacent as anyone, given his track record. He hasn’t exactly shied away from publicity or self-promotion. His repeated cameos on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are the stuff of cringe-legend.
I think that’s on the writer. Yes, they did attend the same school at the same time, but unlikely hung out. By all accounts, the reconnected when McPhee was in Waitress in the West End
I’ve never watched RH - any franchise - but it seems “cringe-worthy” applies to many of the cast.
