Does everyone have their popcorn ready for Harry & Meghan?

Yes and no. I believe there was a point in Harry’s life where Harry could have said his dream was to have a little girl and name her after his Gran and there would not have been a naysayer on the planet even if it was the deeply personal nickname.

But in March 2021, H and a very pregnant M sat down with Oprah and dragged the RF through the mud with falsehoods for financial gain (for instance they knew by letters patent that Archie was not going to be a prince at birth nor have security, nothing was changed because of his race). That was disrespecting her. And her husband was literally dying at the same time she was dealing with this. For H to choose to do that public interview at that time and put her through all of that is the exact opposite of love. Given the timing of the birth so soon after that interview, naming a great grandchild after her seems disingenuous at best regardless of the name.

A new Letters Patent can be granted. And have been. Otherwise Charlotte and Louis also would not have been HRH Princess/Prince until Charles became King. The 1917 LP only covered George. But yes, it was unrealistic of Harry to think there would be a change made for him.

This is an excellent quote which encapsulates Harry and Meghan’s dilemma, in my opinion. They want to have enough relevancy to be effective for the charitable causes they support and yes, to generate enough income to support their desired lifestyle and goals.

I believe detractors take issue with every choice they make…that is their right. However I feel the incessant barrage of criticism directed toward them from the British media is actually more telling of the people perpetuating the negative messaging.

You painted a naked woman because you enjoyed looking at her, put a mirror in her hand and you called the painting “Vanity,” thus morally condemning the woman whose nakedness you had depicted for you own pleasure.
― John Berger, [Ways of Seeing]

Btw, the royal biographer, Robert Hardman who is the author of the book claiming the Queen was upset/angry is a columnist for the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mail.

I think part of the issue had to be the timing. Very few people called her Lilibeth. The last was her husband who had recently passed away. She was very much mourning the loss and may have wanted the name retired with his passing.

If there was an issue at all, which seems highly unlikely

Yes I was just referencing that they knew the birthright titles of HRH Prince and and HRH Princess are guided by the {latest version of} letters patent and thus were well aware at the time of his birth that Prince Archie was neither a grandchild of the monarch nor born to the future heir and thus he was not due a HRH Prince title nor the security that goes with it. To try and misconstrue a lineage that was determined well before his father had even met his mother and indicate he was not being given a title or security that he was owed (and to further insinuate it was being done due to race) was a brazen lie. That was when I lost all respect for H&M and quite frankly have had trouble believing since.

That doesn’t mean I believe the Dailies either, the two are not mutually exclusive and in fact on the topic of Lilibet’s name I find it believable that H&M did discuss it with her at some point before the interview and that she gave her blessing, but I would also find it believable that she felt anything but honored by them at the time the baby was born, after the interview, and could have expressed a sentiment along those lines (I don’t particularly think the statement about palaces and paintings and names sounds realistic).

I agree with what you just said, all of it.

It’s nice to see them living their life away from the abusive British media. Yeah…I’m happy for them.

These are the type of events I’d like them to do more of, just showing up to support a cause they like and enjoying themselves. No need for a lot of publicity.

I agree. When I shared the article about their attendance at the Bob Marley premiere, I was happy to see them living their life. It was a surprise to see them in Jamaica. There wasn’t any pre-attendance fanfare.

Yet since then I’ve seen multiple blatantly negative articles from the usual British media outlets. It saddens me that a certain segment of the public seems to enjoy criticizing absolutely everything this couple does.

While I understand some feel they deserve criticism (and lots of it),…to me, it’s become a bit sadistic. This group seems to believe every negative thing the media has fed them concerning reports from royal insiders.

The British tabloids are fixated on H & M because they don’t have lot else to write about when it comes to the royal family. While I’m not a fan of theirs (H&M), they’ve been pretty low key for quite a while now. Whatever is going on with them these days has nothing to do with the royal family or the UK - I’m not sure why it is worth commenting on. For some reason the British tabloids just can’t quit their addiction to H&M.

Because it sells.

Hence why I called it sadistic.

Yup. I don’t think the royal family is that interesting, tbh. Kate and William are buttoned up and don’t really provide the kind of fodder the tabloids are looking for (no scandals, cute photogenic kids) thus they need to remain fixated on H&M.

I expect H&M are in search of new job opportunities in Hollywood if their Netflix deal comes to an end, it sounds like they were doing a favor drumming up publicity for the movie:

“It is understood that the Sussexes were flown to the island by private jet courtesy of Paramount Pictures, the production company behind the new biopic Bob Marley: One Love. The pair made a surprise appearance on the red carpet of the film’s world premiere.”

I’m thinking Harry and Meghan are going to be fine.

I was so hoping that someone would post about this, because this tweet made me cry real tears. From laughter. Salt Island!

Yes. I’m happy they escaped the abuse from the UK media. Tom Bower is irresponsibly horrible.

…so much for Harry the eco warrior. A ridiculously short visit to the UK (15 mins with Charles!), when he could have called instead. A trip to Vegas, on top of his recent trip to Jamaica. Preaching to the peasants about travel with his partnership with Travelyst, but doing the opposite.
