Does getting moderately smacked on the head cause brain damage?

Saugus – It’s not this hit or that hit. It’s that the next one could be the scrambler. This is why we wear helmets, use a safety belt, and brush our teeth. Reasonable precautions to avoid possible calamity.

And no…a moderate slap isn’t the same as a boxer’s lethal punch. People get killed in boxing. Just as a shuttle launch and a small cherry bomb are similar concepts but radically different in scale.

^
So… You can get slapped upside the head like 40 times a day for 40 years and not at all increase your risk for Alzheimer’s?

You need to see someone. Start with a physician.

Multiple slaps on the head will not cause brain damage. Multiple blows to the head, with accompanying confusion, being dazed, disoriented, etc can cause problems, but most commonly these are considered transient and will not lead to permanent injury. Multiple severe blows, concussions, with LOC, etc can cause problems.

Now our father smacking or 150-200 times-- that could be considered abuse. But thats another story

^
Wait, how’s it abusive if there’s no harm actually caused?

Are you guys sure about this? Why do people say to protect your head?..

I’m sorry I can’t play anymore. I’ve got to go to bed so I can get up and go to my job in the morning. You should probably go to bed, too, Saugus. Your brain needs to rest.

Child abuse often doesnt cause permanent physical injury.

LOL!!

New chapter for McRea’s book!!

Is this thread serious?

as serious as a kick in the teeth. Oh wait…

Haven’t heard from you for awhile, Saugus.

I’m one of your bigger fans.
Which could mean either I’m rather rotund, or appreciate your insight.

battlo-
What happened to your post that was originally post #28? It has disappeared. Said something like “Sagus, you may be the first case to show signs of brain damage from superficial slaps to the noggin.
We stand corrected.
We’ll alert medical publications” , which prompted what is now post #28.

So you guys are totally sure that it’s nothing to worry about, even when happening hundreds of times over a long duration of time?

getting smacked in the head repeatedly causes a person to ask the same question over and over and over…

I promise you that if you come on out here to the PNW, you can add one more moderate smack to the head to your total count.

Is this the type of smack like the ‘Should’ve had a V-8’ or the Klic & Klac, type of dolt smack?

Either one of you oughta get the implications if you wear a helmet.
Beware of the smack by a wife/gf-there is no such defense.

“Beware of the smack by a wife/gf-there is no such defense.”

And you would surely know about that, as based on your posts I’d guess you’ve had a number of those (and probably have alot more coming). At least one can hope. :)

^^ ooh!! A cyber smack!! LOL. (wonder if cyber smacks cause brain damage ;)) You go girl! Post # 5 was also a LOL. Funny stuff!

^^^
Harder than a V-8 smack.

Well then… its obvious. You shoulda had a V-8
