Does HS "competitiveness" matter?

I went to a pretty mediocre HS. The best 10-15 students (top 5% or so) got into to the top (Ivy and equivalent) colleges,

Only on CC could a high school send 5% of its class to Ivies and be described as pretty mediocre.
