Does Rice waitlist a large number of students?

It’s not that hard to believe. Rice had a much higher yield last year than was expected, and there was essentially a housing crisis at the beginning of the summer. When it was later in the summer, it may have been apparent that four beds were open, so four students were admitted. It makes perfect sense.

But two years ago, a lot of people (myself and Dorian included) were accepted off of the waitlist. So don’t assume that it’s an automatic rejection.

AAt the same time, don’t hold out hope. When someone asks you what college you’re going to, say, "I’m going to _," not “I’m going to , unless I get taken off the waitlist at Rice.” Assume that you’re going to . Get excited about that.
