Does soda make you stupid?

^^ But do you live longer by drinking coffee, or is it green tea, or is it red wine, or is it plain water? I could probably find a study that supports any of these. I’m hoping to find one supporting living longer by drinking diet Mountain Dew but haven’t found one yet.

It’s true; Coffee = Swedish plasma

Wow- 23 posts and no one has yet linked a picture of a penny being corroded in a can of soda. Yay!

Maybe discussing questions like this makes us…not very…I do not want to use strong expression in the title of this…thread

^ How much soda do you drink, Miami?

Miami- Looks like you haven’t had your caffeine yet this morning. Or too much of something last night???

EK4- thanks for starting this thread. I have been having weird symptoms for the past 2 weeks that I can’t explain. I thought I had the flu, then allergies, but it was not getting better. Because of these discussions, I decided to look up the one other thing that has changed in the past few weeks. My use of Truvia. I have used stevia raw, no problems. So I decided to start using Truvia, which I have tried in the past, and do like the taste of. My use has increased over the past weeks. So has nausea, severe headaches, dizziness, joint and low back pain have been terrible. I usually drink peppermint tea for nausea, and that has been making it worse…imagine- I have been putting Truvia in it.

When I googled Truvia symptoms, seems like a number of people are having the same exact symptoms. Hopefully they will all be gone by stopping the Truvia. I will let you know in a few days.

That’s good to know vlines, I knew that Splenda was causing problems but I didn’t know that about stevia.
My mom had given me a Costco sized box of Splenda packets that was open. I don’t normally sweeten my drinks, but no calories & free, so what the hey?
Killer migraines. Absolutely killer.
I asked mom- " you didn’t think to mention this lil side effect?"

actually, it seems to be the Truvia specifically, not the raw stevia. My guess is that it has to do with the alcohol processing method used, but who knows. I will see if stopping makes a difference, or if I need to breakdown and go to the MD. Who will tell me he does not know what the problem is either and do a bunch of blood work that will be normal.

I am OK with splenda, but in moderation. I can’t drink, never have been able to drink crystal light. that gives me migraines immediately. No idea why such an increased sensitivity to crystal light specifically, but definitely a problem.

A friend’s son started having a major asthma attack one night at soccer practice. I was just jogging by and my friend screams “I need a coke right now!!!” so I ran over and begged one from a nearby boy scout meeting at the same park. I never knew this either - but apparently it is helpful.
