<p>Readmission is something definitely available to existing students, who want to take some time off, but that would be after having one or more semesters completed. </p>
<p>If reapplying, you can’t have taken any college courses while off or you become a transfer applicant, which forces you to applying when a sophomore. </p>

<p>If you believe you were a borderline admission, it is risky to try to withdraw. If you feel you are a strong candidate that the school would want to hang on to, then you should have a decent chance with admissions. Right now, they are being deluged with appeals and other pressure, so keep that in mind when asking about a deferral.</p>
