<p>When I was at UNC for the tours, either the brochures or the admissions officers (I can’t remember which, possibly both!) made the statement that either 1 in 5 (or 1 in 6, it’s been over a year since that tour haha) of the admitted students at the university are either the valedictorian or salutatorian of their high school classes. </p>
<p>After boasting such statistics, I have to assume that it’s something they care about. Clearly it’s something they keep track of.</p>
