I’m about to put a message on my landline that says, “This line is monitored but not answered. Please leave a message.” And then I’m never going to answer it again.
^I like that idea, Hunt.
Hunt, I hate that idea!!! LOL
Every time I reach a number with that message I want to scream!
We have Consumer Cellular which uses the AT&T network. Bought two new Moto G smart phones at Target for total
cost of $100 each. Total monthly cost for 2 phones including taxes $54.00. We have the ability to change the amount of data we get each month so only pay for what you need. For instance I can take another $5 off the bill this month by texting them to drop my plan down to a lower level. Easy. Then increase it next month if I need.
Got rid of the home phone. The only issue is you have to call all your credit cards and banks and let them know your new numbers.
Kids are on their own plans which they pay for…YIPPEEE!!!
Also dropped my cable/internet bill to $72 a month total bill with Verizon Fios channel packs. Happy enough.
Relief - it looks like I haven’t done something totally foolish. @mathmom, I am a bit concerned about coverage in the areas you mention. We used to travel to upstate New York and Vermont where we were lucky to get coverage with Verizon. No one else was in the region. It looks like there will be another trip this summer, but I guess I can test the Verizon one month plan. If it works fine, if not - well there’s WIFI at Starbucks. Thanks for all the feedback - too bad Verizon doesn’t listen to all of us!
Speaking of cable TV service…
After living without it for several years (tired of unjustified high prices!) I signed up for SLING TV online “cable TV” a couple of months ago and have been happy with it. It has all I need for $20 a month and no contract.
OMG, LW!! That is so cool. It has CNN, so one half of Mr B’s needs is covered. I wonder if he can settle for Bloomberg instead of his CNBC… I hate to pay $100/month to watch those clowns!
@Momofadult maybe I wasn’t clear, we get Verizon coverage in town, or on top of the mountain in Vermont, but not in our cabin. With t-mobile we stopped getting coverage everywhere.
Bunsen, I thought that there had to be some catch when I first learned of SLING TV…but no, it provides what it promises to provide. The only caveat is that your internet connection must be optimal, or your reception may occasionally “hang.” And SLING TV operates on a slight delay, so technically your CNN feed is a few short seconds behind the feed from your traditional cable or satellite service. Otherwise, it’s fine. Love that I can watch ESPN again, too.
Thanks, LW!! I would be happy to dump Comcast (and our DSL is fast enough to stream Amazon etc.).
@mathmom, thanks for additional Vermont info - I’m hoping I can live with WIFI and an Ipad if I have to for a short vacation. We shall see!
We have had T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and now we are back to T-Mobile. We have the 4 lines for $100 plus minimal taxes and 2.5gb data per line at high speed and additional at 3g for no additional charges, unlimited voice and messages too. Its less than 1/2 what we were paying for Verizon and about same coverage, as we are mostly big cities.
Love T-mobile but as D2 is now in school in VT we switched to AT&T. Will switch back when she graduates.
I dumped comcast cable this month too. We have sling now. I have to admit though that we need to get an antenna so I can get ABC,CBS,NBC & FOX… I didn’t realize that while I don’t watch many shows , there are times I did watch stuff on those channels…
