Funny. The way I looked at the article is that it is all fiction, and she’s having fun with us. She just isn’t that good-looking and never was (and knows it) and would never write such an article about herself except as a fantasy jest. (She is a writer, you know.)

I read the article and am absolutely convinced it’s an April Fool’s joke. She just isn’t that gorgeous, whether by conventional beauty standards or unconventional ones.* I’m not suggesting that her claims are as ridiculous as they would be if, say, I wrote that kind of article, but it’s clear enough to me that it has to be a joke. Right?

Of course, it’s always possible that I’ve managed to lose the ability to judge these things!

I know England is far better known for its attractive men than for its attractive women, but I can’t imagine that the standards of female beauty are *that different there.

Rubens painted plenty of beautiful women. Considering her location, she is on the right side of the beauty chart. And she seems to have a nice set of teeth. Might explain the fuller look, but after all … This from the UK, a country not particularly blessed in the looks department because of its insularity.

My , what an ego ! She looks to me like a plain woman that got a makeover and decent haircut…but under all the spackle is still plain

The Japanese have word for people who look good from behind…

My face is definitely my best asset, but certainly not my biggest one:)

poetgirl, your D sounds exactly like my HS best friend. Beautiful inside and out. My friend was not only a knock out in looks but also very outgoing and fun. She was also the kindest and nicest person I knew and always made an effort to be inclusive. She never had a problem with girls being jealous.

(btw- She is now mid 50’s and still beautiful!)

I watched the video interview with her on the daily mail, and she appears much more attractive there than in the photos. That said, I disagree with her completely - people flock to someone with a warm, engaging personality - perhaps she should look within to find the reason she does not have good. friendships.

Samantha Brick is basically a professional ■■■■■. Coincidence that according to one British public relations firm the Mail has has hired a brand new Internet marketing department and seen an over 70% rise in the number of unique visitors in a year?

Just look at some of her past articles. They’re all over the top. Her husband will divorce her if she gains any weight. She flirted her way to her money and her Mercedes by the time she was 30. Even if we were to believe a word of it, it contradicts her current claim that she is “no flirt” and would certainly explain her “plight.”

I don’t think it’s a joke. I think she wrote it seriously. Maybe she has a version of that body dismorphic disorder where you see something totally different in the mirror rather than the real you. And I agree with those that say that women, in general, do NOT hate other women for looking good! For goodness sake! Many, if not most, of my friends are better looking than I am. I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about it.

This woman is trying to rationalize the fact that she has a hard time making friends with other women. I know people like that. If you can blame it on others shallow tendency to ostracize you due to your overwhelming beauty, you never have to look at your behavior!

Why brag about beauty, when she is not beautiful? It sounds stupid. She is simply not noticable in a crowd. Reality check, except, who cares what she think about herself? She must have the magic talking mirror that tells her that she is the most gorgeous creature on Earth.

Roshke, maybe she can pair up with John Stossel & do an expos

“She must have the magic talking mirror that tells her that she is the most gorgeous creature on Earth.”

No, she’s a writer with a good-paying gig.

Well said, EPTR. I know people like that as well - if it’s not their appearance, it’s their talent, their money, their intellectual ability, their whatever. They don’t seem to ask themselves why other beautiful, rich, talented, smart people can form friendships. A little bit of narcissism going on there, I think.

This one is incredible. Her beer-bellied husband watches every bite she eats, while apparently allowing himself gluttonous behavior?

Mini,
OK, got it, all good paying ladies are beautiful or their money tells them so. Makes sense!!

Hah. I’m waiting for more expressions of sympathy for the fat tub of lard husband, now… :)

I’ve heard that story from many women, all of which are in the shelter I work- a domestic violence shelter.

Either she’s in a borderline abusive relationship or she’s trolling and making light of controlling relationships.

As I said, I think he’s cute. ;)

I suspect those who are calling this an april fool’s joke are probably right.

It’s the only thing that makes sense.

I’ve been had!!! :D

Yup. The British press pulled a good one, clearly intended to get the US beehives buzzing’ : I bet it was still April 1 in the US when this was published on April 2 in the UK. ;)

This thread has been very entertaining!
