Don't trust Post Office with Flat Rate Shipping

My FedEx rates are not way off. I copied and pasted straight from the website.

If you choose to be delusional, then fine. Have a great day.

I have posted direct quotes before.

Well, I don’t know what services you are asking for, but here is the cost to ship a 12-12-12 box weighing 24 lbs from Texas to San Francisco. You must have requested weekend services or something additional. You need to ship on Monday 11th to compare correctly. You messed with the dates to make a specious point.

Roll over your rate quote for a breakdown of costs.

I have done many similar shipments and I know the cost is never above 20 dollars for boxes up to two feet and thirty pounds. They always arrive in three days. I also know what the cost would be with USPS.

Do you think I cannot read an invoice?

Ah, now you’re saying a 12-12-12 box, not a 24-24-24 box. Huge difference.

I have no clue what you’re doing, but these are the prices.

I quoted the 24-24-24 in my older posts. I dropped it to 12-12-12 when you compared the FedEx to your MUCH smaller boxes.

Fwiw, the smaller the boxes, the smaller the difference that favors FedEx will become smaller… In fact, I believe that USPS does not accept boxes larger than two feet.

Again, I know what my shipments did cost and that the cost with USPS would be higher. The reverse is probably true for small parcels that can fit in the priority boxes. But that was NOT what my example was all about. My boxes are usually books and household items, and not super heavy items like thirty pounds of iron that could fit in an all-inclusive box.

$17.08 is less than $28.89.

Mon, Jun 18 $17.08 Not available

Not sure what you are doing wrong, but the cost is NOT close to 30 dollars. See my post 153 and the ones just above.

Again, and hopefully for the last time, I never paid more than TWENTY dollars for the LARGE boxes between Texas and California. A 12 lbs in a 12-12-12 box via FedEx ground is around 11 to 13 dollars.

Anyway, this is obviously hopeless. Time to do sth more interesting than discussing shipment rates. I’ll keep saving money, and you can do the same. Or at least think you do!

I am not lying and I have no reason to lie about this.

Anybody else care to input a 12x12x12 box on FedEx from San Francisco to Dallas? I am sure you will get $28.89 for FedEx Ground.

I just got the same thing as you did.

I don’t know why anyone else is getting a different price, unless they have discounts, etc.

LA - I’m not sure if this was said or not (this thread is long!) but in PA we can do our drivers license renewals online. Can your son do his online? Then they just mail something for you to go get your new picture taken… or is that what they had sent to him?

I have issues with the post office too. I’m another who mails things from work if at all possible because the post office seemingly hates picking up the mail I leave in my mailbox for them to mail. I put mailed letters in our outgoing mail at work all the time. I’ve never sent a package from work but I don’t think they would mind. I have had things delivered to me there and the mail people on our end have brought the package right to me at my desk.

I will give Fedex credit - when they have packages for me they leave them on my back patio under the roof. They don’t have to walk all the way around my house to do this but they do it anyway. UPS/USPS tends to leave things right on my front step.

Our FedEx guy is creative about package placement, too - he sticks them behind a planter on my front porch. If I’m expecting a package, it is OK, but once he placed an envelope with some legal forms for me to sign - in the same spot! Since I rarely enter the house through the front door and there are no plants in that planter for me to check on in the winter, I only got aware about the envelope after getting an email from the patent agent handling our application, “Mrs B, have you had a chance to mail us the executed declarations?”

UPS sets them right against the side of the house on my front step. At Christmas last year I had to laugh… the one day I had two packages from UPS on the front step and three from Fed ex on the back patio. Then another time I had one UPS and two fed ex’s on the back patio with a little note that they moved my UPS package for me because it was raining. Maybe it wasn’t raining when UPS got here but I thought that was nice of them. Whoever the driver is, I tip my hat!

FenderGirl:

Unfortunately, he did renew his driver’s license online. They sent it to our home address and it was that renewal license that I put in his package. The told him that they will not send a replacement (even though the post office lost it) without his going in person to the DMV and filling out lots of paperwork. (I realize Insomniatic will say that of course the DMV won’t replace the license. I need to prove that the post office lost it!) Apparently they will send him something temporary to prove that his license his current (after all, he did properly renew it) but not until a week or two before his plane (something like that, I am getting the story second hand from my son). When I called the DMV, they gave me some hope that they might mail him a replacement, but the person my son talked to said they wouldn’t. I told him to call back and see if another person gives a different response. Ah, bureaucracy! We can make DMV appointments online so I will make one for when he returns. I just hope the license comes before he goes off to his study abroad

On a different note, I am also hoping that his passport comes in time. I asked him if he paid extra for certified mail for the passport when he went to the post office to renew and he said they never gave him the option. YIKES! I should have drilled that into him.

Never a moments rest for us worried parents, eh L.A. Parent?!? FWIW, my family’s passports all came very quickly. No need to pay the rush fee. Hope you have the same luck.

Fwiw, I can send a screenshot of my last invoice to anyone who requests it via email.

That was my experience as well.

Part of it was also applying during “slow periods” in the first few months of the calender year after major holidays and before the summer vacation season. Those who applied during the “busy periods” sometimes had to wait 2-3 months.

Ok…got a notice from Overstock saying that my package was shipped via UPS on May 31. It arrived at my house yesterday. Guess they took the scenic route with that big brown truck! But shipping was free!

For the last few weeks our mail has been misdelivered daily to a home 3 blocks from our home with the same street number but different street name. The other guy has been nice enough to bring our mail to our house personally. My dad went to our post office last week and talked to a manager about the problem and the manager said he would work on it. Yesterday we got the other guy’s mail with the same street number as ours so at least we are getting some mail now. We’ll have to go to post office again and also remind our letter carrier to fix problem. The post office manager said our mail is sorted and trayed at some central facility but that the mail carrier should catch it at the mail box when delivering.

xiggi:

That’s commercial mail.

2 people already proved you wrong. Please give it up and stop digging deeper ditches.

Digging deeper? You can’t be serious, I know what my shipments cost, and have my invoices to look at. By the way, I sent a copy of my invoice to a member as proof. That IS the reality. And a reality that is based on dozens of package sent between Texas and California with FedEx Ground. Call it what you want, that is simply what it cost to ship as an individual. The account is my mom’s. Not a high volume one.

How wrong can my PAID invoices be? But I guess I should take your views as the truth. LOL, you probably would look at the invoices and still say you know better.

You have a commercial account, therefore you get a volume discount.

2 people already showed you proof. Have a great day.
