Don't you hate people who make up excuses on CC?

^ dont you hate people who have names like obamabot?

Except what you obviously fail to realize is that not all people react the same way in a crisis. One student may obsessively focus on their studies in order to ignore their situation, while another may lose focus.

The joys of human diversity.

Hey assface, I failed the test because I died that day. Wow, you’re such a jerk.

Wow, this thread didn’t take long to turn into a mass hate-session.

nice thread. I have nothing to add to the conversation, so please carry on…

True, but don’t you see your friend as exceptional, or above average? Your friend was really strong…and she did have an excuse. But, say your friend had not done as well. Would you put your friend in the same category as a guy who watches television all day and flunks a class or two?

You’re right, many people make excuses that simply aren’t true. And, because of self-fulfilling prophecies, sometimes excuses just hurt us. That’s the whole point behind the motto, “don’t make excuses,” because the very act of making excuses for oneself can be damaging. But, I think to a certain degree, excuses are fine. You shouldn’t view yourself in the same way if you lose a race because you sprained your ankle, versus losing a race because you didn’t train for months.

okay. so your friend had a parent die, and they continued to succeed. so what do you do, but decide to come on here and dimenish their strength by saying anybody and everybody should be able to do the same thing. you’re one he// of a terrible friend.

People like the OP usually:

a) Have been through personal hardships themselves and have great resolve because of it
or
b) Have lived a normal/privileged life yet somehow cannot empathize with those who may have gone through struggles.

I think you probably fit the mold of B.

What I don’t like though, are people who whine about the most trivial issues.

you obviously have some social disorder and have no heart.

Some schools are really competitive, dude. Not everyone goes to grade-inflating middle-of-nowhere schools.

^Yeah, but at the same time I do think out of all the excuses the OP listed, that whole “my school is REALLY competitive” thing is abused the most. But for the most part, I think people are being genuine when they list these excuses.
