Dorm room specifics??

Some great Ideas… we are on our third year. My son has had it with roommates and wanted either a studio apartment or a single dorm room. I managed to help him secure a single by looking every other hour until finally a single opened up in Hillcrest. He is in the band and needed the dorm that stays open during holidays.

We would also never consider a Vacuum, either bring one up whenever your visit or borrow one from the desk. My son didnt even wash out his sink until we visited.

footlockers are great but nowadays the kids buy the Cubes you can sit on and store things. These are now super popular and Walmart, Target BBB all carry variations.

We will be there on the 15th of August. Go out for a nice dinner. Get some rest and then get to the dorm first thing in the AM on Monday the 16th. My son is a Junior and has Marching Band Camp that starts on Tuesday.
Make sure you student checks out Beat the Book Store which is in the Same indoor mall as the University of Iowa Bookstore. We always check to see who has the better price.
Some books will also be purchased at Iowa Books kiddy corner from the Mall…

IZZIE: if your son is a freshman he will not be in the NEW section of Burge with the suites. But next year he can attempt to get one.

Make sure that you always check with the roommate about who is bringing what.

A printer is nice to have in the room but there are places all over to print and you get some free printing included.

Slater does need a rug. I got him a bathroom rug for infront of the sink and then one of those large rugs you can get at BBB.

Get extra lighting as the only lights are the overheads. A clip on light is great with a piece of wood and duct tape.
