I’m a first-year too, and i’ve spent time in all of the dorms. I live in BJ, it was my first choice and I love it. Snell-hitchcock are both great, IF you get in, and are optimally located. They also win scav hunt. I love the rooms in the shoreland, but the feel of the house isnt the same when a house is actually a floor in a hotel. And the rooms are carpeted, so the floor is a bit yucky. I have a single, like most people in my house, but i’d say this has little to do with how social a dorm is. They all have a great personality- but shoreland is far-away, and its main advantage is there’s a stop for the 6 (the bus that goes downtown) right outside of it. Pierce has TERRIBLE food. The Bj food is good, but Bartlett is by far the best food, so consider Max P seriously. Max also has central heating and a/c. Macclean is in a dismal location- there’s a hefty walk to classes, and a lot of people, meaning the feel of a tiny intimate house is lacking. Oh, and the shoreland is gonna be torn down soon, so keep in mind that if you move there you will be displaced your second year.
