dorms

I agree with historymom-- I have two friends that were accepted to USC and decided to NOT dorm with each other. They’re still really good friends and attribute this to not dorming together. They made this decision because they found that people who dorm together as friends from high school end up ruining their friendship. Your freshman year is a great time to meet new people, and in many cases, bonding with your roommate.

Here’s an article on this topic: [Does your best friend make a best roommate?](http://media.www.rutgersobserver.com/media/storage/paper822/news/2006/09/26/LifeLeisure/Does-Your.Best.Friend.Make.A.Best.Roommate-2314645.shtml)

As historymom said, there’s a lot of information in CC on this topic. As for RLC’s, RLCs really depend on your personality and personal choices. I suggest you look into the RLCs and find which is the best fit for you: RLC’s. The names of each RLC further explain what each one is. However, I believe the larger dorms (Alpha, Communitas) are louder and have “a lot of fun,” but DO research on the RLCs and decide which you fits you.
