If I go to RIT, I’d only need about 50k in loans. If I go to UNR, it’d be about 40k. First year tuition for me is around 16k and then based off of students I know that go there now, it’d be about 22k for the next three years. I have 40k that I can out towards school, so the rest will have to be loans and scholarships, but I’m not counting on the latter.
You’re right about UNR and not seeing just people I know, I know it’s a big school and lots of OOS kids go. I’d just really like to get out of Nevada, I don’t plan on living here my whole life and want to be away from what’s familiar. Combine that with the fact that my significant other is in CA, and it’s always been somewhere I’ve wanted to go to school, and you can probably deduce why I have such an affinity for it. I’m willing to go elsewhere, but I feel like no matter where I go, I’ll have loans, so I’d rather go to the best school I can for the least amount of money. RIT feels like that for me now, but that might just be because I’ve kinda watched my dreams fall apart in front of me lol.

30 on ACT (36 in Reading and English, STEM is not my strong suit lol)
Unweighted HS GPA: 3.906
Weighted HS GPA: 4.856 (not sure what weighting system we use, but the cap is 4.95)
- English: Honors in 9th and 10th (highest available at my school), IB Lit HL 11th and 12th
- Math: Reg. algebra in 9th, reg. geometry over summer (no Honors was offered), Algebra II Honors in 10th, IB Math AA SL 11th and 12th (HL not offered)
- Science: Honors biology in 9th, Honors chemistry in 10th, IB Bio SL in 11th (no HL offered), none in 12th
- History and social studies: None in 9th (not a part of curriculum in my state), AP World in 10th, IB HOA HL in 11th and 12th
