Double thread - UC Confusing over IGETC requirements and UCSB

1) I’m not sure if there is a minimum for the time of your application. You must have 60 transferable units by the time you complete your Spring semester (Spring 2012 for you since you’d transfer in Fall 2012) or, if you’re a few units short, you could take some classes in Summer 2012 as well.

2) You have an entire year to complete 10 units from the time that you are positing this. It should not be an issue.

3) If you have a very good reason, then you can defer your admissions for 6 months (dependent on the school). *You would still apply to the UCs this November, 2011, for the following Fall, 2012. Upon admission to the school, you can email or call your admissions counselor (their contact info, etc. will be provided to you once you’re admitted) and explain your situation and the reason for which you want your admission deferred.

4) I’m not sure. Someone from Palomar could probably clue you into which courses transfer properly and for what they are articulated. From what I see of your school’s IGETC form, however, Philosophy 115 does not count towards any major IGETC requirement. In addition, it does not articulate to any major prerequisite at UCSB. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong or if I just don’t see it.

Despite it not being on the IGETC form or articulating to a major prereq, it may still be UC transferable.

5) Your school doesn’t seem to have American Institutions requirements and has very history requirements (which only apply to CSU transfers/applicants).

6) There is no reason for you not to apply this November for admissions in Fall 2012 unless you can’t complete 10 more units (I’d suggest taking more than that for security’s sake) in 2 semester (Fall 2011 and Spring 2012) + summer 2012 intersession if available.

7) It may be transferable, but I doubt it since UCSB doesn’t even seem to have a Journalism or general Journalistic major.

Good luck.
