<p>Zoosermom, Douglas Feith has an impressive resume of distorting facts to make them seem to support a false conclusion. I’m all for taking in data - but when your data supplier is a man who has willfuly and successfully lied to you before, the principle of “Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me” comes into play.</p>
<p>Douglas Feith is an embarrassment to the American nation. He is the Republican equivalent of Ken Lay lecturing us on corporate ethics. Yeah, he’s got a front row seat to the problem, but you just can’t trust him not to twist the fact enough so that anything he says can be trusted. (Not to mention a hopefully futile attempt to rewrite history in a way that will make him look good. Or at least, not as bad as he deserves to look.)</p>
<p>Not a Democrat here. Getting shot down in Vietnam is not a qualification for being president, though it may often be a qualification for a long-term disability.</p>
<p>As to what effect it has on one’s short-term memory, the sample of one suggests it isn’t very good.</p>

<p>Douglas Feith helped set up the OSP. Last year, the Pentagon’s Inspector General reported that the OSP “developed, produced, and then disseminated alternative intelligence assessments on the Iraq and al Qaida relationship, which included some conclusions that were inconsistent with the consensus of the Intelligence Community, to senior decision-makers.”</p>
<p>And I’m supposed to believe anything he says now?</p>
<p>You mean intelligence that was cooked by Cheney & Co. (theres a reason why he visited Langley so often and set up a separate intelligence service under the umbrella of the Pentagon).</p>
<p>There were intelligence officers who refuted or at least had big doubts about the claims put out by the administration, but such views were squashed.</p>
<p>And remember, Cheney still claims that Saddam had a relationship w/ al Qaeda.</p>
<p>As for Feith, he is a complete joke he still thinks handing power to Chalabi (who is nothing but total scum) immediately would have been the best step.</p>
<p>Yeah, Saddam was a real threat to the US. </p>
<p>Heck, even if he had WMDs, he was too scared to give any to terrorist groups like Hamas since he knew the Israelis would nuke him out of existence (like most petty dictators, his main interest is preserving his rule and his comfy lifestyle).</p>
<p>Instead, Saddam resorted to donating money to the families of suicide bombers which was just show and propaganda.</p>
<p>Captured Iraqi documents showed that Saddam thought that his biggest enemy and threat was Iran (probably the only nation to come out ahead of all this mess).</p>
