Dream Retirement

I have the house and location I want (middle Tennessee), but I will need the ability to leave on and off during the winter in search of sun and in the summer in search of a break from the heat. I’m pretty sure I would just as soon be in jail as in a city apartment.

I am so over home ownership with all of it’s upkeep and maintenance. A large home? Ack! No way! In my ideal world, I’d want a one living level, 2 BR, 2 BA house with a basement. The basement would be finished for all of H’s “stuff.” he’s a collector and I like open, empty space. That way it could all be down there and I wouldn’t have to see it. The house would come with a free yard person and cleaning person. Anything that broke would magically be repaired. All taxes and utility bills would be miraculously paid. Oh yeah, and a garage. I’ve never had a house with a garage (or car port!)

Location? Somewhere not hot & humid! I love the mountains, but cities don’t bother me. I’d like to be able to hike without driving 2 hours, frequent a grocery store that’s not Walmart and might even have a salad or food bar! Colorado appeals to me, but I’m sure it’ll be out of our price range. Utah maybe? I’d even look at Idaho or Wyoming…
