We have uniforms. Khaki pants or skirts and polo shirts (3 different colors). All schools have them here. As a teacher and parent, I like 'em. When we switched from dress code to uniform it took the status out of what clothes were being worn…gone are the armani shirts etc.

Overseas, the status displayers/seekers always find a way. Watches. Purses. Cars. Shoes. Jewelry.

You are right…I just don’t see those things, but I am sure the kids do!!! But it helped our little Russian kids etc. who were coming from “strict” schools with shirts tucked in and tight belts make a better transition into our school…full of the flotsam of the planet in all shapes, persuasions and styles.

We found three, count em, three skirts yesterday 10 dollars each!!! WOOHOO…

We have learned the art of Dressing For Less…

I envy you all who didn’t have uniforms in school. I went to a Catholic all-girls school (yargh), we had nasty uniforms. Baggy shapeless jumpers, pleated skirts to mid-calf length, grey gaberdine coats… /me curses Irish Catholic nuns and their insane uniform rules.

My girls had the catholic school girl uniform…now at a local club for teens, if you dress as a catholic school girl, you save 10 dollars on admission…double yargj
