So I’m from up north in wonderful Ohio where we generally just wear jeans every day. But my friend says that everyone here wears dresses a lot and she gets made fun because she doesn’t. Is that true? What do people typically wear? And what kind of dresses?

I don’t believe that to generally be true. My daughter wears jeans/shorts and T-shirts to classes. As far as going to football games, many girls do wear sundresses, although there are students who also wear shorts and T-shirts. Here are some live cams from various places around campus and you can see what the “typical” students wear.

Great idea to post the webcams! While my D is not in a sorority, she rarely, if ever wears dresses to class. I’ve been on campus during the week several times, and I don’t really recall seeing many girls in dresses. Game days are a different story – I think the sorority gals have to wear sun dresses. Generally, on weekdays, I mostly saw girls wearing shorts (a lot of Tempos), yoga pants, and jeans. (I also remember a lot of leggings and a gal even wearing camouflage.) – Basically, you can wear what you want.

Agree with the above. My D is in a sorority and in a business fraternity. The girls wear dresses to some socials and to the football games. She is also required to wear business attire to some business fraternity functions so that is a skirt, blouse, and blazer or suit (These occur at various times so she may be on campus/in class with dress clothes). But most of the time she wears yoga pants or shorts and t-shirts.
