Consolation, come join us over on the exercise thread. We’ll have you doing rows, bicep curls, tricep kickbacks, and pushups. Before you know it, we won’t be able to keep you out of those Michelle O sleeveless dresses! ;)

I like Eileen Fisher. Sometimes J Jill carries similar dress styles, too.

Deborah T is right! I am now going sleeveless after years of hiding my upper arms – they are really toned now! It’s all due to the thread.

And, I can wear (and just bought) a sheath dress whereas in the past I couldn’t. It’s amazing how losing weight (in my case 25 pounds) opened up a whole new world of clothing choices.

I have a large ribcage, and no hips. If fitted things fit my chest and waist (or non-waist ), they are too big in the shoulders and the hips. There is such a thing as basic body type. (Those pants that claim to fit your curves are disastrous on me. They balloon around my hips and thighs like the little Dutch Boy.) Sheath dresses are not for everyone, no matter what their weight. (And BTW, my arms aren’t bad, although I don’t look like Michelle Obama. I still prefer a sleeve.)

I agree sheaths aren’t for everyone! I just meant that now that I’m thinner, they do work! OTOH the Bettie-Page-like dresses from Modcloth that get linked on here would be a disaster on me!

I do not know how tall OP is, but for me being 5’6" and shrinking is a good thing, because most dresses that look short on the models look decently long on me. And by “decently long” I mean they hit mid-knee. I hate the look of my knees, so yeah, I few of us have some (legal to display in public ;)) body parts we don’t like to show off. :D

I did a quick mall run last night and - sad! - there is not much summer clothing left in the stores. The blue silk EF dress with the asymmetric hemline looked gorgeous in person. I even tried it on - size S fit like a glove and looked perfect for the OP’s function (the price, OTOH, was not ) EF has the best lightweight, flowy cardigans, IMO, and Neiman is discounting them heavily.
