Most of mine come from LL Bean, they have a variety of sleeve lengths and necklines. They last forever, some of mine are 20 years old.
When I bought a lot of white tees, they came from Gap when they would have them for half price, and Talbots. I realize as I’ve gotten older I don’t look good with white next to my face, and I don’t wear jackets so much, so I don’t wear white tees much (even though I seem to keep buying them - some from JJill lately).
Related - I also don’t look good in black near my face. My “uniform” when I was working might have been a black or white tee, a sweater or jacket, and pants or a skirt.
Same for me, white around my face is not my best color.
I buy most of my tee shirts at Talbots. I have a ribbed tee with a scoop neck that doesn’t look terrible. I have it in navy also.
White t shirts are my favorite staple. The Nick and Zoe t arrived and it’s very nice. It’s more structured than I want for everyday but I’m going to keep it as it’s nice fitting and I’ll definitely use it.
Our malls have very few stores left and no flagship department stores. It’s pretty sad. We do still have a Gap and an Old Navy. I hate ordering and having to send things back. I miss the days of walking into JCrew and bringing various sizes into the dressing room.
I’ve never tried a Tide pen but they sound like a good purchase.
Our large chichi indoor mall is still alive (possibly due to the fact that it is where folks go when the weather is bad which happens often), but the stores have limited number of each item. Want size 6? We will gladly order it for you! Try 8 or 10 to see if you like the feel of the fabric etc. Oops… it comes in, but the fit of size 6 is off. Back to the mall to return! I’ve returned $$$$ worth of stuff to Nordstroms last year because of that.
Have to give Nordstrom credit for being a marketplace for lesser known brands! Unlike the brands regularly carried by Nordstrom, these brands are only sold online, and the return is 90 days, not forever. Still very generous! And the shipping is included, and they can be returned to a physical store. For example, I saw that Sugar Lips dresses are available online at Nordstrom. Someone here bought one of those dresses, as I recall. I’m always hesitant to buy something from a brand I never tried before, so this lets me be a bit more adventurous with my clothes shopping!
I love these Amazon t’s. And since they are inexpensive if they stain or fade…out they go..
Yes! I have not seen the series, but she has been my style inspiration for 30 years. I even picked my 1998 wedding dress in a similar style to hers (much to the chagrin of my mother and MIL who thought I needed something flouncier).
I tried those (when I click the link amazon tells me I bought them in 2019 LOL)…they were much too thick to my liking. They are much thicker than Madewell whisper t’s, and somewhat thicker the Everlane tees I posted above, and the gap ones someone else posted. Just FYI for anyone looking to buy these.
Thanks for this. I just bought a 2 pack of navy/burgundy. This is the kind of thing I wear to work.
Any tips for softening a demin jacket? Wash it?
I have a black denim jacket which fits well (petite). But gosh I’m spoiled by some very comfy sweaters and find the jacket rather stiff. It was good deal a year or two ago from from Kohls ($11)… so not a biggie if I try something and it fails.
I have heard washing in vinegar will soften denim.
I’m an old fuddy duddy but dang I don’t care for what I call “almost sleeves”. Too short, stick out. I just want a regular sleeve and about halfway to the elbow. The “almost sleeves” look like they are saving on fabric. LOL.
So my sale J Crew white tshirts arrived today, both size S. One is Girlfriend/crewneck, the other Essential/vneck. They are nice fabric, but in the end I’ve decided to return both.
The crewneck was not a great look on me. The vneck was ok, but I rediscovered a new Kohls white classic vneck (S petite) that I got on a good sale last fall, and it fits me better. Kohls fabric is not quite as nice, but it is fine. I did a test with a hot pink bra, which didn’t show through. (I’d wear it with a cream colored bra but was curious to test how sheer.)
I just came here to vent a little. I spent a LOT of time looking for a dress to wear to a wedding, and I finally decided on one, but it wasn’t easy finding one, and I paid more than I wanted to.
My DIL (who doesn’t have nearly as much free time as I do) still hasn’t found anything she likes.
I’ve also been shopping for “nice” regular but a little upscale tops, and I have only found 1. I want things that are fairly classic/not too trendy, and not too tight for my 64 YO body (but not too baggy either, which I tend to gravitate towards, even though I’m a thin to normal sized person)
Anyone else having trouble with clothes this year?
It’s perfect! I hope to go one day, have a great time. ![]()
Love it!
I even follow an influencer who is in her 50’s who complained about the options this year.
Every thing I look at it feels like I already have. Do I need more basic boring tops? Another pair of jeans?
I did buy today a pair of navy golf crops. Very exciting lol
This outfit is fabulous. Enjoy!
