I wondered about that as well. Especially since there would be so much to iron with a maxi! Back when I did Stitch Fix, they sent MANY rayon tops, and the wrinkle aspect was a problem.
I prefer knits, and a quick flip through the dresses in my closet indicates that most of what I have are polyester/spandex or nylon/Lycra/spandex. I only have one true maxi, and it is polyester/rayon/spandex.
Thanks, @HImom, for the reminder that I likely need to pay attention to fabric content!
I’m a polyester/cotton fan. Cotton helps it stay breathable and polyester is good to minimize wrinkling. I’m NOT a hand washer and definitely not an ironed or steamer.
I like the look of rayon but I’m not a huge fan of hand wash items. I love linen and I find it’s okay to machine wash and hang dry. I don’t love ironing linen but it’s worth it to me.
I whenever I hear people rave about Polyester I can still hear my Mom. When I was in high school whenever I wanted to buy something she would ask “is it permanent press”? She hated 100% cotton and I only was able to buy a cotton top if I was willing to pay half.
I don’t know who first mentioned Vionic shoes, but thanks! I bought a pair of flip flops (Tide II) because I wanted something to wear in the house (hard tile floors) during the warmer months.
At first they felt so weird - what is this lump under my arch? I have very flat feet. But now I wear them and don’t even notice the orthotic design. I have not had any foot cramps at night, which I often get when wearing regular flip flops or other unsupportive shoes.
Posting a review of my Spanx leggings I got a while ago. Two thumbs up. These look and feel like jeans without the zipper/button discomfort. I sized up to Medium in the taupe color and love them.
I probably would have been fine with a small, but I wanted them to be more jean-ish and less legging-ish. Wore them to a dinner out today!! Yay. Our first meal out in like 3 months.
Ordered a dress. I have no idea when I will be able to wear it, but because I am optimistic that I will outlive the Pandemic, I pulled the plug and bought it.
The Tommy Bahama reminded me of my son. He was thinking about asking for a Tommy Bahama Hawaiian shirt for his bday, but then he read the far right are wearing them for some reason, so he said forget it.
I would not let a few wingnuts to appropriate aloha shirts. Beachgoers and residents of Hawaii who wear these comfy shirts outnumber those few nut jobs… maybe someone should start aloha shirt movement to tell those wing nuts to go away.
@BunsenBurner, I agree with your thoughts, but I’ve gotta pick my “battles” with the kids.
He has plenty of clothes, and I suspect if there’s one he really likes I will hear about it.
In HI, the professional men (MDs, lawyers, investment bankers) wear aloha shirts instead of dress shirts and ties. Our state is pretty far left liberal.
