drinking on campus?

Ahhh! I knew we should have sent our daughter to a nunnery!

These helicopter parents - have they no shame, no sense of discretion?

Just asking, Boss.

oh, greenblue, can you confirm this statement:

I assume the common sense ‘respect your roommate’ rule would prevail in this case.

It’s very important to discuss with the roommate in advance how visits from boyfriends/girlfriends are going to be handled. Otherwise, uncomfortable situations may arise.

Aye, I’m a helicopter parent–from 750 miles away! My daughter is grateful on a daily basis, I’m sure.

As a current carl I would say that although drinking is part of the weekend that there are other options and people don’t discriminate against those that do not drink. Also, carleton students are generally responsible and the campus focus is academics before partying. There is drinking at every college and carleton seems to handle drinking well. I have spent nights on the weekends both at parties and not and I have enjoyed both options.

Right, and some of the college-owned houses are sub-free (or at least one of them was when I was there), so they don’t even necessarily have to live in a dorm. I’ve never heard of anyone wanting sub-free housing but not being able to get it.
