I’m currently a freshman in an IB-based High School, in which I take Japanese as a language. As of this moment, I’m taking the highest level available to my grade, so if i stay in this track, I’ll be taking A2 HL Japanese. However, living in different countries my entire life has led to my under-achievements in the class. Since I had significantly less exposure to the language, than all my other classmates, I got a B this semester. This class is the only non-A i have, so it’s bringing down my GPA. I’d really like to drop a level, so that I’d be in an A2 SL track. Would dropping a level hurt my college application? Or will the higher GPA that i can get compensate for that?
