Applepear, I don’t know which classes your son decided to take, but using the A100/G202 combination instead of taking E201 this fall will still work per the regular admissions info page, as the regular admit requirements have not changed for applicants applying this Fall for Spring 2015 admission. Also, there is no requirement listed to take E201 at IUB. Don’t know how any adviser could have given such advice; this was a University Division adviser, and not a Kelley adviser, right? The requirements have not changed since August or September of last year when they were first posted, except that now there is specific information/dates for applying during this Fall semester:

Note: Applications for admission will start being accepted September 1- November 3, 2014 for spring 2015 admission. If you do not receive the confirmation email within two hours of submitting your application please email bschool@indiana.edu. Most students apply during the spring semester of their freshman year and receive notification about their admission in June. Admission decisions are made only after official grades are posted at the end of the application semester.

If your son could get into G202 this Fall, he could drop E201 and other risky Icore prerequisites he may be signed up for by Friday, September 1. These drops would not show up as “W’s”; they would not appear on his transcript at all, since the drops would take place before the end of the first week of classes. Dropping classes the first week of the semester will not show up on transcripts.
