DS will need a coat!

As a Northerner, I believe in a coat wardrobe! Several different warm puffy / down coats and jackets, a black wool topper, a camel pea coat, a burgundy pea coat, a long winter white cashmere dress coat, plus rain gear – it’s not just one coat for the winter!

And don’t forget hat, gloves and scarves!

My son goes to college near Albany, NY, and survived the first semester without wearing a coat, although he has a couple there. He also went through HS without wearing a coat, except when doing something like skiing.
REI is a great place to take advantage of sales, bc you can return at any time. So if yo buy him a coat this year and find out it’s not cool by next winter break, you an still take it back.

My South Florida born and bred daughter goes to school in Boston and she has definitely adopted the coat wardrobe lifestyle! She started out with a North Face fleece jacket that served her well for her fall official visits. Her first winter, we got her a 3-in-1 parka that she likes, but she asked for a longer coat because her legs were cold. Last Christmas, we got her a North Face long down coat, Metropolis I think, and she loves that one. She also got a tan pea coat that she wore a lot last spring and is now in the market for a longer leather jacket for dressier occasions. And let’s not forget the 2 or 3 rain jackets, keeps one in her backpack at all times!

Northface seems popular in most places. I am a little surprised to see my daughter and her friends wear long down coats. My girls have so many coats and jackets , but none from Lands End or LL Bean. Bean boots are getting very trendy amongst the New Englanders…I have two pairs that I use for taking out my dogs in my " dog yard " They look fabulous with my flannels pajamas in all weather
Glad to know I am on the edge of fashion trends

Has anyone shopped Lands End Canvas? Cute clothes and geared to the young and trendy… don’t know about their coats or if they even have them, but the other stuff is cute and very J.Crew inspired.
