AP vs Dual Enrollment

My Junior year son(25) is homeschooling this year after attending a private high school for 2 years (transcript is 4.2 GPA). In that time he took 3 APs: AP Calc AB (scored 4) AP Euro History (scored 4) and AP BC Calc (B+ but no AP exam). He is planning to take Multivariable Calc then Differential Calc online (through a dual enrollment college class online- probably West Texas AM), and Astronomy through Outlier. For History and Physics, does anyone have opinions about him taking AP vs another online college course? I don’t think he’ll sit for the AP exam as he doesn’t want to go into a high school he’s not attending. He will do a course of some sort so that he has an objective grade in these subject areas for college apps. Thank you in advance.

Needing Some Advice About AP vs. Dual Enrollment Classes!

I hope this is the right tag to use ^^;. I’m going to be a HS junior next month, and have just received my schedule for next year. I have a couple of APs on it. They are as follows: AP Lang, AP Psych, and APUSH. When I showed it to my mom, she insisted that I switch all my AP classes to dual enrollment classes offered by our state flagship. She’s always cared about my education, so when I got a 3 on my AP Euro exam, she was less than pleased. I think that’s why she’s pushing me towards dual enrollment instead of an AP class. I see the benefits of a dual enrollment class. It can be easily transferred, it’s cheaper than taking gen-ed classes at university, and all I have to do is pass the class to get the credit. But I also really want to take those AP classes. Those are subjects that I know I like and am pretty good in, especially GPA-wise, and I feel like I at least have a shot of getting a 4 or 5 on the exams. Dual enrollment vs AP credits for college rigor

My DS22 is interested in computer science, with a 4.0 unweighted GPA, 1470 SAT. He decided midway through junior year to take advantage of dual enrollment funding and earn an Associate of Science degree while still in high school. After fall semester, he dropped his two online AP courses (Calculus AB and AP Bio), even though he had earned A’s in both classes, and decided to enroll full-time as a dual enrollment student at a 4-year college instead. Among other things, he didn’t feel that either AP Calculus or AP Bio were a good fit for him in the fully online format. Both courses were heavily tailored toward teaching to the test. AP Bio did not include much of a hands-on lab component. As a result, he decided to take the DE versions of these courses instead and performed well in those and other classes(4.0 unweighted in all college courses to date). Dual Enrollment vs AP

Hey everyone! So to begin at my high school they offered me two ap classes I could’ve taken before my Junior year however, I chose not to take them because they were classes I knew I wouldn’t succeed in. To make my course rigor seem slightly more rigorous even though it’s already pretty rigorous compared to others at my school, I’m planning on taking two dual enrollment classes at my local state university this upcoming summer (to help with earning college credit). My state university is one of my safety schools that I plan on applying to. However, recently I’ve been thinking about applying to an Ivy League School and was wondering if they would view taking dual enrollment classes the same as taking an AP class even though they wouldn’t take the credit. Or would it be better to just take an AP class over the summer?
