So Fox news is going to interview Josh’s parents. Interesting choice. I have zero intention of watching this.
They’re picking who they think will be friendliest to them. Megan Kelly is tough on everyone, I don’t see this being easier for them, they should have picked entertainment tonight or someone like that.
Even if she is “tough”, its still Fox news… And they will be well rehearsed with lots of spin. Its lipstick on a pig.
Well as a Christian and a conservative I get why they’d want to find a venue respectful of their basic beliefs. However, I don’t think they’ll find any sympathy. I really can’t stand this couple or show so I won’t be watching.
Child abuse is child abuse. They are going to claim they involved the police. The guy who is in the pokey for child porn?
I can’t stand to read all the documents - so who all is in jail over various abuse/child porn stuff? The police or the guy who was in charge of this pseudo sect of theirs? I thought the weirdo who liked the curly hair on girls was also in jail. So the person they turned their son into is also in jail? Let’s just send in special ops to grab the girls and put concertina wire around their “compound”.
They dont need to put concertina wire around their compound, they should have put it IN their compound. They left young girls in the home with a known child molester-- who molested them. That is wrong.
Post #639: Interesting that the oldest Jackson brother-rapist is 27 now (Josh’s age). He is 10 years older than his victim-sister. The assaults started when the sister was 4 and (2-3 times per week for 10 years with eventually all 6 brothers joining in), after each incident the brother would ‘ask for forgiveness’ and threaten that she would go to hell if she told (although one time the mom walked in on the assault and ignored it).

I worry about all these special “sects” for lack of a better word who seem to be exempted from rules of the land. I watched some Amish show once, I suppose I really had nothing better to do - where it was about a man who helped people escape from Amish life and learn how to integrate into society. His story of abuse was sickening to the point they edited it and just showed the men who were counseling him crying.
I feel the worst for the girls. While I do think it was important for them to hear what happened to them was not okay, in this public venue must be awful for them. Their parents didn’t protect them, they were forced to slap on a happy face and care for the brood of children. I can’t imagine how depressing it has to be for those who weren’t brainwashed.
Did anyone ever see the movie The Village. They started a small world on their own raising the kids to think they were living in a different kind of world and time than today? They kept them in line using some monster, turns out the monster for the Duggar girls were their own family - brother and parents.
But, brainwashing is frightful because it can be so effective. Remember, some are saying evil is the doing of satan (am I supposed to capitalize that?) When you strongly identify the problem with an external source, you deal with it differently, can sometimes detach from the personal. Someone earlier mentioned Stockholm Syndrome. These girls are not versed in modern info about victims, may not have the sort of (modern) perspective many of us do. They may even feel triumphant that they prayed harder, sang louder.
What respectable Christian organizations do when one of their own is tainted by a legal scandal that includes sexual improprieties . . . They accept (and likely strongly encourage) the resignation of the accused:

The Jackson case linked in #639 is absolutely appalling. That young girl was sexually abused weekly by 5 older brothers since the age of 4. And the “mother” thought she would “go to hell” if she told anyone??? I am speechless. And I do not believe that for one minute – she seemed quite content to permit her sons to create hell on earth for her only daughter. And the notion of putting a stop to it never entered her mind for those 10 years?
These people will attempt use religion to justify just about anything, no matter how horrifying.

The Jackson’s in NC are a similar situation but the family isn’t famous. After 10 years of raping his sister, the oldest confessed to his pastor 2 years ago. The pastor notified the authorities. The sister was 5 when the assaults began. She was told she would go to hell if she told anyone. If you see any news accounts all the brothers are attractive and clean cut. (I pictured them as toothless pig farmers) I found the story when I was reading other Duggar news.
I missed this today (well, I don’t really ever watch The View unless I know of something specific they’re going to be speaking about and I’m interested in it), but it sounds like it was an interesting discussion. I might try to find the clip online tomorrow.

Whle crime was committed by Josh, and there is no excuse for it, I wonder what is going to happened with another crime that was committed - releasing sealed juvenile criminal records along with identity of the minor victims (not explicit, but very easily identifiable). Is anybody going to be punished for this crime? It is against the law.
It was the police report, not the sealed court records, that was released. The court proceedings and outcome are a separate issue. They were not what was released. Police reports are public record. This one was redacted, with names marked out.
