jym626 and Ilovetoquilt, I agree with your comments about the Duggars. They have the right to live any way they please, of course, but I wish the media would not glorify them for their bizarre lifestyle.

If the Duggars and Jon & Kate weren’t so glorified, we’d have a lot less fun here on CC talking about them!

You have a point, zooser! Without them and the Octomom, this would be a much less lively forum.

That would just leave the…err… Palin and Johnston threads…

NYMom, I’ve been so disappointed that no discussion of Jon’s escapades has been forthcoming. Distraught, even.

zooser, are you referring to the male half of Jon and Kate + 8? I’ve never watched the show, and only became aware of them because of the recent increase in publicity. I don’t know all that much about him, but from what I can tell he is a bland guy having a standard mid-life crisis. Not much to talk about. Levi, now…

A present for those interested in Jon Gosselin’s escapades.

I am having trouble working up any interest in this boring man’s sex life.

I notice that I made an error above: “… the male half of Jon and Kate + 8” - clearly, he is only 1/10 of this group, not 1/2!

The best quote, in my mind, is the closer:

Santoro then goes into TMI territory about their relationship, saying they had sex “nine times,” and that Gosselin “wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t the best I ever had.”

Having your hook-up discussed and your sexual performance rated in the mass media - ouch!

^^^ LOL!! Just like the comment from the woman Madoff had an affair with, that he wasn’t well endowed.

I have never been a Kate fan because she was so rude to John and so OCD, but she has been much smarter than John about how she handles the divorce. He is having such a public meltdown that I won’t be surprised if she is just biding her time to change their custody arrangement so that she has full custody with visitation for him and not joint custody. I would be appalled to have him making his bad choices so public since it will eventually get back to his children. How can he not realize this? The only answer I can come up with is that he obviously isn’t thinking with his brain.

The oldest Duggar child Josh and his wife are expecting for the third time. They have a one year old, they had a miscarraige, and are now expecting again. He has apparently made a comment that they might be going for 25.

I really wish they would stop giving these people publicity.

THe problem with these types of shows is that they encourage others to follow their lead but many don’t have their resources and expect us taxpayers to pay for their choices–assisting in housing, social services, medical care, education, college, etc., you get the picture. Without being bankrolled by a TV show or similar, it is NOT realistic for most families to “have as many kids” as biologically possible. It’s also amazing that there are no serious health issues–one person with a serious health issue can be VERY EXPENSIVE and time-consuming.

I also wish these situations were given a LOT less coverage, but it seems to sell, obviously.

I hope “leaving it up to god” is what the wife wants. When they had their first baby she said she didn’t think she wanted a huge family like that. I love the duggars, I question the wisdom of having as many kids as they do but I think they are making it work in a way that suits their lifestyle. I have never been able to shake the thought of wondering, though, what they would do if they had a severely disabled child. Helping mom and dad feed and change the babies is one thing, I don’t think that’s an unfair thing to ask of a teenager, but hauling their sibling’s full grown body in and out of the bath tub would be a different story. I just pray they never have to find out how they would handle that.

I also hope that the Duggar daughters feel that they have a choice when they start contemplating child bearing.

I suspect that the Duggars are not – ummmmm – pro-choice regarding child bearing.

I find the Duggar lifestyle bizarre. Just do. I also find Michelle’s childlike persona odd. She’s a beautiful woman who needs a haircut and to speak in a less babified voice. Just my opinion, I know.

He really gives me the creeps. Again, just me.

I can’t imagine why they broadcast their lifestyle. If it’s to earn a living, that is exploitation IMO.

From what I have read, the duggars were independently wealthy before the show. I didn’t get the impression that they really needed it for the money.

Michelle’s voice is odd, but I haven’t interpreted it as childlike so much as just serene. I wouldn’t mind having half the ability that she has for remaining calm under stress.

What if one of them turns out to be gay?
