Has there only been 1 person who received the AB notification so far?
I also received an email invite to the Black Student Alliance. Is this a likely letter?
No
@APP2020 After further review, yes, it is… I have two other OFFICIAL “likely” Letters from Ivy’s (Brown & Columbia) which actually use the term “LIKELY”, however, Duke letter has basically the same core message:
Body of main letter:
“Greetings from Duke University! In recognition of your strong academic and extracurricular accomplishments, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the Black Student Alliance are delighted to invite you to the Black Student Alliance Invitational (BSAI). This annual program for prospective Duke undergraduates will be held Thursday, March 31 to Sunday, April 3. We hope you will join us for a special weekend! We also want to let you know about Blue Devil Days, our two-day programs in April for all admitted students and their parents.”
“We look forward to welcoming you to campus on March 31!”
Furthermore in the FAQ section:
“Q.Does this mean I’ve been admitted to Duke?
A. Naturally, inviting you to campus means that we think you’re a very strong candidate for admission. Occasion- ally, something happens or we receive new information between the time we mail our invitation and the time we nalize admissions decisions, and we nd we can’t admit someone we’ve invited. But that’s very rare. Your chances of being admitted are excellent.”
@donkeykong466 it strikes me as odd too.
@clueless96 I feel like the person that said it was messing with us
I guess so too @KYF4CK . It’s strange because last year, several people commented about having been named finalists, and given all the discussion about letters and emails on this thread, more than a few people would have mentioned a finalist email or something.
looking at this other post from 2014, the date of the merit scholarship decisions should have already passed, unless this year is an anomaly:
“just fyi for future applicants, here are the dates for AB Duke Finalist notifications:
March 4, 2008
March 7, 2009
March 5, 2010
March 4, 2011
March 2, 2012
March 6, 2013
March 7, 2014”
@zeedoq have all been announced on the same day in the past years? Or was only AB announced on the said days?

^reading this thread, it seems like all scholarship finalists are notified on the same day?
A friend of mine at Duke tells me that he has seen the list for AB finalists and is sure that the finalists for all other scholarships have not been notified as of yet. Just sharing some information…
I just spoke to the Duke office. They said that AB finalists have been released. However, University Scholars and Karsh is yet to be released. They said University Scholars will be out within a week and Karsh within two weeks.
2 weeks for Karsh is surely a long time, that’s the one I’m waiting for. I think this might mean that the decisions this year will announced closer to the 30th.
Yes, @inteledge . I guess it will be out within a week although they said two weeks.
Has the Reggie Howard Scholarship been released?
Because I’m too lazy to google it (
) what date is the regular decision release day?
Okay my impatience won over my laziness
If anyone else is wondering, regular decision date is March 26, 2015 at 7 p.m. EDT
I have this itching feeling that the rest of the merit scholarships will be released today, anybody else feeling nervous??
Isn’t that last years date?
I agree about the merit scholarships but I don’t know what time that would be around at all.
do you guys know any specific details about the university scholars one? like is it open for all applicants regardless of region, race, or major? and how many people typically get this one?
@DonkeyKong466 I think a couple of internationals receive it. The rest are American citizens.
