~DUKE 2020 RD APPLICANTS DISCUSSION THREAD~

@amoore001 honestly, those numbers don’t matter all that much. You’ve done a lot of good for a lot of people–honestly that resume is incredible. If they didn’t admit you I’d be shocked. You definitely deserve it. Good luck!

Congratulations to everyone that got in and all the best to everyone else who have yet to confirm!

For those who are admitted, info on Blue Devil Days:

@812pacificon ha reading that made me so happy and now I’m back to reality

lol confession: I stayed home today & I’ve literally been looking outside my front window for the mailman to show up # embarassing

there’s a huge blizzard here and we’ve been snowed in for two days and they’re not delivering mail… whyyyyyyy… guess i have to wait another 7 hours :((

So I have spring break and my mailman just came and I had nothing from Duke (I was not expecting to get in) so I think we can assume that they are only mailing acceptences

@VaishS it probably depends on your location too. the closer you are to duke, the sooner you’ll get the mail (if accepted).

I’m in Columbus Ohio so it’s not that far away, didn’t some people get mail in California?

@VaishS the original poster saying they got an acceptance letter clarified they were from Palo Alto Pennsylvania, not California. Didn’t even know the PA PA existed till that post! I live near the CA PA. My mail comes late so it will be arriving about the same time decisions come out on the portal PST. That will be fun, trying to decide whether or not to stay glued to the portal or the mailbox. I wouldn’t write off hope yet - mail can be random. And evidence on CC is not infallible.

Thanks guys!
If anyone else gets the mail or doesn’t get the mail let us know

Guys here are the stats for RD 2020 http://today.duke.edu/2016/03/rd2016 just came out like 2 min ago! 8.7% admit rate. 49 deferred ED students admitted. “This is the first year we’ve admitted fewer than 9 percent of our Regular Decision applicants,” said Christoph Guttentag, dean of undergraduate admissions. “All applicants will be able to receive their decisions online, but only those students who are admitted will receive mailed letters.”

In the email Duke sent last week, they said they’ll mail “decisions” to everyone. So everyone should get something in their mailbox regardless of decision.

My dad just checked the mail. Stuff came but not for me :frowning:

@BrownPlsThx
“All applicants will be able to receive their decisions online, but only those students who are admitted will receive mailed letters.”
This is from the article that @neonpinklime linked to.

^ That’s not what it says on the website though.

All applicants will be able to receive their decisions online, but only those students who are admitted will receive mailed letters. As in previous recent years, students will be able to reply online to offers of admission or the opportunity to be placed on the waiting list.

I am so anxious! The decisions are coming out at 5 am in my time zone and I can’t fall asleep because of the anxiety

yeah that’s not what the website said

The email sent to all us Duke applicants state that “Since we deliver our decision letters to applicants, we expect only the applicant will be checking his or her decision online.”

So everyone does get something in the mail regardless of decision

The website said only acceptances. Regardless, everyone will learn their fate by 7 tonight.
