Thank you GammaDelta for answering questions…my son was accepted and plans to major in Computer Science, do you know people in that major? What are their thoughts on the rigor and quality of the courses? Professors?
Also, on a different topic do you know if cost of attending Duke is locked in at first year price or do students pay as cost increases over the 4 years?
@thetex lol for next year that is literally the main reason why im applying ed i love march madness so much im obsessed lol im just sad grayson allen won’t be there next year and a bunch of other players who got recruited to the NBA
@sanjanagupta1 What about RJ Barrett, Zion Williamson, and Cam Reddish, though?
@jdawg24 yeah them too but also wendell carter, duke lost its whole team
hey guys! I’m back. I think I am going to commit to duke, but honestly I am really apprehensive about the social scene. I am afraid of the huge role that Greek life plays in Duke’s social circle! Is there anyone out their that is artistic/into fashion/into music and concerts out there that thinks they will commit?
omg just saw I wrote their instead of there… sleep deprivation amirite
embarrassing
@souradeline My S is a sophomore at Duke and not a part of Greek life and he has tons of friends. Goes to games and concerts. Travels with his friends during breaks. Right now he’s abroad in Germany for the semester. He loves it at Duke. He applied with an art portfolio and was placed in Pegram (the art and music dorm) on East his first year. So he met lots of students with his interests. Good luck with your decision.
Hey guys, I have recently been admitted to Duke and Georgia Tech for computer science. I am also a recipient of a full ride to go to UNC Charlotte for computer engineering. I know that Georgia Tech is ranked higher in CS than Duke, and have heard that Duke is also more well known for other majors (biomed-eng, etc.). What’s your opinion on the CS program at Duke vs at GTech. Also, is it better to just go for the full ride to UNCC, in your opinion? Money is not the biggest factor in my decision, however, the program at UNCC does offer an additional research/study abroad and internship stipend, along with a lot of elite opportunities such as leadership retreats. My biggest concern with maybe going to UNCC, however, is that I am not sure whether I want to go hardware (w/ CE) or software (with CS) and the scholarship binds me to CE. Anyways, just wanted a few opinions on what everyone thought on Duke vs GTech CS programs, so I can narrow my options a bit and make the decision easier.
