i totally relate man, duke has been my dream school for forever. i can only hope for the best. but rejection is redirection and we will end up wherever we are meant to be

horrible, it’s 3:46 AM here in time zone, I planned to sleep over the night but failed to cuz of anxiety, really hope everything works out in the end. Idek why I am being hopeful atp after being rejected from almost everywhere except my safeties and a waitlist from UPenn. Odds of me getting into Duke is sooo small but I just can’t control to have expectations. I know it’s 99% a rejection, but I can’t hold my mind from that “what if”

thats totally valid! i didnt apply to any of the ivys, the most selective school ive gotten into is Duke Kunshan and Middlebury, so I feel like i have no idea what my chances are heading into decisions

As an international seeking for financial aid, the entire application season was way too brutal. I lost hopes but that UPenn waitlist made me thought maybe I ain’t too bad as an applicant. Plus I was an individual semifinalist for Duke’s robertson scholarship, I just really really can’t control my expectations. And I do know that disappointment hits REALLY hard when you have high expectations but ugh. All the best to everyone! Hopefully great news after 10 minutes

yeah, ethnicity wise I am from another country but I applied from Pakistan. And no, I applied entirely with the help of my school counsellor (kind of regretting this decision)

Exactly, seeing the insta stories of those renowned firms of Pakistan makes me realise that it is almost impossible to do it without a firm when you’re competing against those with a firm. Just praying atp.

these counselling isnt worth it unless you’re willing to pay insane amounts. those ppl who pay moderate amounts are used by those firms as “test”. for example, they might recommend a very weird/unique essay for you, so that they know if that specific uni likes those weird kids or not. you get used as a test subject for the high paying kids.

thing is I got invited by one of these firms when I got an international / national level award and I turned it down after learning about the unethical practices by these firms and their price. so I just truly hope that my honesty shall help :sob:
