Duke University Early Decision for Fall 2024 Admissions

Mine is still the same as before. Has it changed for anyone else?

Ours just says the checklist will not be available as we finalize admissions decisions. Its been like this since sometime earlier this week. No other changes

A committed athlete to Duke from my daughter’s high school was asked to apply in Regular Decision. Apparently they do that with some of the athletes, because they don’t want athletes to take up so many of the ED spots. He was a later recruit, and I assume he may have been given some sort of likely letter as assurance that he would get in through RD.

My guidance counselor told me today that the ed acceptance rate this year is 8%. Anyone else hear this?

The known ED pool is around 6,280 this year, so if it were 8% that would be just around 500 accepted. That’s lower than the normal 800 ED accepted, but who knows

I’m thinking maybe she meant 8% excluding athlete commits and/or questbridge? not sure

the counselor slideshow/zoom said it was 10% excluding qb and athletes - 8% is way too low

Is there a way to know which colleges requested which documents via IDOC and on which date? There’s a long list of “processed documents” but they don’t identify which schools requested them. There are dates, though.

Has anybody seen anything in their email yet…

Duke student newspaper The Chronicle just published stats for this year’s ED round. Record number of applications (up 28% from last year), 12.9% overall acceptance rate.

Complete details here: Duke Early Decision acceptance rate falls to 12.9% for Class of 2028 after nearly 30% increase in applications - The Chronicle

That’s ridiculous! I guess it’s being driven by the denominator. By product of any and everyone applying any and everywhere!

Did they come out?

DD24 was deferred. We were expecting a flat out decline and feel this is likely a soft decline (but I suppose we’ll find out for certain when regular decisions come out).

Does anyone know if Duke tends to defer a lot of students in the ED round?
