During family funeral, does someone watch the house?

We did not…but my mom’s neighbors kept an eye on the (rural, five houses on the whole street) property. We did lock the house, which is unusual for there.

The appalling thing was the funeral home published their address along wih the obituary. Mom has been besieged ever since by garbage phone calls selling her funeral benefit claim services.

I’ve heard of the practice, though I’m not sure if I’ve known anybody to do it. But hmmm… for MIL’s funeral there was somebody at her house, a kindly mom of my husband’s buddy who had offered to babysit our 10 month old son. (Our 4 year old daughter was back home 3 hours away, trying the patience of my sweet mom.).

I have heard of people doing this. Somewhat different, when I was growing up in a small town, the house across the street was set on fire. Several houses were broken into while people were watching the fire. The people who lived there were rather sketchy .

I think people just install video camera around the house if they were concerned. I have 24 hour doormen, so that’s my video.
