Couple of universities we are applying to have a EA deadline of Oct 15th. My kid wrote SAT on Oct 4th and is expected to get the score on Oct 18th.
Is it better to send the current score and then follow-up if the Oct SAT scores are better ? OR Is it OK to decide on 18th and decide which score to send after that (which will be a few days late) ?
(One of the universities is test optional)
The web site says :
”As we review your application, we can only consider self-reported test scores. We can consider your self-reported test scores if we receive them by November 7 (if you are applying Early Action)”
So perhaps I can wait for at least one of the universities.
It depends on the school and the score. For any school that is test required, report the highest score your child already has. You can update admissions later if the re-test is higher.
For schools that are test optional, look to see where the current score falls within their test range (you can look that information up on each school’s common data set). If the score is in the range, I’d send what you have and then again, update admissions later if there is a higher score.
The one school that says they’re fine waiting until 11/7 is obviously the exception.
I don’t think there are a lot of schools with an Oct 15 deadline that don’t also have a later deadline for score, as traditionally, most used to accept scores from October test dates. What is the other school?
Examples of score deadlines for schools with Oct 15 EA application deadlines:
Clemson, Nov 1 (requires official report)
FSU, materials Oct 22, scores Dec 1 (self-report)
UT Austin, Oct 22 (that’s tight for an official report)
UGA, Oct 29 (official report)
UNC, Nov 7 (self-report)
Ga Tech in-state, Oct 31 (self-report)
U South Carolina, Nov 1 (official report)
